sometimes it is a cry for help. They say that someone who is truly suicidal will often not let friends or parents know about their pain - or their plans. Those who have already decided to do it, are often calm and collected...planning every detail (such as who to give their belongings to, where to do it, how to say goodbye to family members, etc)
That being said - you should never treat a suicidal threat as anything less than serious. Sometimes a person doesn't have the strength to go through with it the first time, and will be that much more determined the next time to be sucessful. If you have friends who threaten to commit suicide, the best thing to do is take their threats very seriously, talk to them - and most importantly, let someone else know such as their parents, a counselor, a teacher at school- anyone. Don't assume they are playing games or trying to get attention, most times they really want someone to stop them.

I have tried and thought aboutn it 2 other times. FOr me its medical condition mainly Depression. Sever depression is hard to see in your self. I was very close to trying about 3 weeks ago but i found someone to talk to and to help. If you have a friend who talks of suside or depression, talk to them, LISTEn to them and offer to be there when they need you. It may be inconvent for you but it will mean the diffrence between life and death. Onaly a Dr. can dignoise depression, so suggest they tal to on soon

in some cases it is attention, and in some cases, there is a serious disorder that needs medical attention. There are signs that someone is serious about killing themselves, sudden mood change from sad to happy, giving away posessions, and others. Can you talk to a school counselor about your friends? They would know what to do and could investigate it in a way that your friends would not know that it was you that was trying to help
