When my 3rd son was born 8 weeks premature. The weeks he spent in the NICU, watching his heart struggle to keep a normal rhythem, hearing the monitors go off constantly while his lungs tried to grow enough to carry him through. Feeling helpless to help the one person who depended on me to take care of him...that was the most frightning thing I've ever lived through. All the wires, the tubes, such a litlte guy. There is no fear like expecting your kid to die.
(by the way he is a strapping strong nearly 9 year old now I'm happy to report!)

I have had 3 really bad frightening experiences.
When I was in kindergarten, my father made my 3 siblings and I lay down on the kitchen floor. Then he walked out the room. Next thing I knew he had a gun held and threaten to shoot us if anyone moved. That was scary.
A few weeks before that we were sleeping, and my father tried to burn down our house. I guess he must have forgotten that we lived across from the fire department. It was really scary waking up in a fireman's arms and seeing flames and only being 5 years old.
When I was 23 I was driving down a dusty back road about 6:30 in the morning one day to get to work. And I came up over a hill and looked up and saw a garbage truck coming at the front of my car. I couldn't get over because there was a big river running under the roadway. I just thought to myself please don't let me die, I have a baby inside me and a little princess at home. I lost the baby, and ended up in a wheelchair for 9 months.
Now for the funny time was when I was 13. I was at a haunted house with my sister, her boyfriend, and my little brother. I was so scared that I peed my pants. NEVER AGAIN will I go into a haunted house! They scare the pee out of me. LOL!

I would have to say it was the time when I was flying from Chicago to Oakland in the winter of 2000 and we hit a air pocket and dropped for about 5 seconds. We went up into the ceiling and then crashed back. Or it could be the fact that if it hadn't been for my wife being in the hospital I would of been in Manhattan on the morning of 9/11.

I was on my way to the store after work one day. I suddenly felt panicky, however, like I had to go home instead. I cut across 3 lanes and went home.
When I got there, I saw the end of the street blocked by fire trucks and police cars. I felt my stomach drop as I realized they were parked in front of my apartment building. There were people standing outside and I saw smoke and soot on the ground.
I kept looking at my bedroom and patio windows for any sign of my 3 cats but I didn't see them. My knees were shaking very badly b/c I didn't know if they were still alive.
As it turned out, they were alive and ok, thank God. They were also very smart b/c they hid under the bed and in the closet where the freshest air was.
I think now that it's good that I didn't see their little faces looking out of the windows. I would have gotten totally hysterical...lol.
Thank you for asking that question and for allowing me, and others, to get such experiences off of our chests.

My most frightning experience was when my mother tried to kick me out for no reason after a week of moving in. I had absolutley no place to go. I just came from a bad foster home and was at risk of ending up in the shelter-once again. I never cried so much or was so scared in my life.

Being stuck in traffic on the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver. Man, that thing is high, and when you're on it, it doesn't look any wider than a bicycle trail. I totally panicked, but was out with my future husband and didn't want him to know how scared I was. I guess he wondered why, for all the time we were up there, I kept staring at him [couldn't look out the window]. I'm sure it gave his ego a real boost!
