Poptart is correct. It depends on the laws of the individual countries. Here is a very nice guide to the world's citizenship laws, and whether or not they allow dual (or multiple) citizenship:

I know a man who is Swedish from his mother, Italian from his father, Russian by birth, and Canadian by immigration.

You have only one nationality (the country you were born in, with some exceptions like parents in the military or visiting). But some countries allow you to have multiple citizenship status, others require that you relinquish any former citizenship before accepting theirs.

I don't know about Australia, but if you mean citizenship.... the answer is yes. For Example your mother is American, Your father is from England, and you are born in Africa. You have citizenship from all three. I do know that some countries require you to commit to just one if you were to remain and in that country.

Yes it's called multiple citizenship, but it depends on the country. Some countries make you give up your citizenship when you get citizenship in another country.

It is legal to have several citizenships .. don't know about Australia, you'll have to check if they accept dual or triple citizenship though ... for a lot of countries it's OK ....
