I need a new digital camera and I am lost as what to buy. I want something slightly compact, good resolution and flash is very important as well. I was looking at this fuji finepix camera because it has the picture stabilization.

Someone please help me out.

I dont really want to pay more than $350

Both Fuji and Kodak make inferior cameras. What you want is a Canon. Specifically, you should consider either the Canon PowerShot SD550 or the Canon PowerShot A620. One is more compact while the other has a better zoom lens. Both are 7 megapixel compact cameras. Scroll down to the bottom of the first link for prices.

Also, there is the Canon PowerShot A700. This is a 6 megapixel camera, but has an even better zoom lens.

The fuji doesn't have image stabilization, but their F30 can do something that NO other compact digicam can do. It can take a nearly noise free ISO800 shot, and a pretty dang good ISO 1600 shot. That's 2-3 stops better than any other compact digicam out there.

There are plenty of good cameras, and for $350 you can choose most of them. yeah the Canon SD700IS is good, but at nearly $500 it better be! So is the panasonic FX01 a good camera- and you get 28mm wide angle and a great image stabilization system all for under $300.

Those are my favorites.

No image stabilization, but let me add to the suggestion for the Canon Powershot A620. While I love Nikon cameras, I'd suggest the Canon A620. We did a lot of shopping while trying to stay in the under $400 range and this is exactly what we bought for our adult son before he went on a trip to Europe. For that money, you can get the camera and a one gigabyte memory card. The A620 lets you control everything, if you know how, or it takes great shots in several automatic modes. This has been the Comcast Shopping Top Choice for months now. It uses "AA" batteries, too.

If you buy a Canon then you can't go wrong. The A620 is an excellent camera with very positive reviews. I would not hesitate to buy one.
If you want a very compact camera then choose one of the SD models (IXUS).
If you really want IS...The Powershot SD 700 IS is one of the newest, has 4X optical, is very small and also has IS (image stabilisation).
But if you want more zoom (12X), then the S3 IS could be for you (however, it might be a little too large for your needs). Overall, you would be very happy if you chose the A620!
Here is the Canon range...

I have a Fuji Finepix F700, 6.0 MP. It's a great camera. Love the pictures it takes. Got it on overstock.com about 50% off.

I got my FinePix 360 at Wal*Mart for about $150 and it came with the camera (obviously) a mini camera case, rechargeable batteries, the cord that hooks it up to the computer, the cord that hooks it up to the t.v., a charger with rechargeable batteries in it, and the cd roms that have a wal*mart camera program and then one with the fuji finepix program. I love my camera overall. it has so many different program things on it and it's reallly easy to use aswell
