Yes and No. . No it will not harm the engine mechanically however I hope he considered the grounding of the plug wires on those two cylinders because not doing so can harm the electronic ignition on some models if he simply disconnected them. The yes part, the unburned gas being pumped out of the exhaust (assuming he left the cam/valve system working) into the catalytic convertor can super heat it and cause it to burn out. After such an event it will no longer pass a smog test.

O2 sensors could be costly, around $one hundred each and each. do not understand how many you have (my Crown Vic has 4) regardless of if it feels like all of them could want changing. undesirable O2 sensors will reason you to fail emissions and could harm gas economic equipment and acceleration. Your misfires are possibly previous codes that at the instant are not from now on a topic, for the reason which you could easily experience it if all your cylinders have been misfiring. i could say replace the O2 sensors, get your codes cleared, and save your BMW. No experience in throwing out the toddler with the bathwater.

If it's a late model, it will cause damage to the catalytic converter to say the least. The raw fuel from those dead cylinders will burn in there causing that thing to be red hot all the time. Don't do it. You'll be sorry.

If it's an old old old one, hmmmm, you might get a lot of flames shooting out the tailpipe. Any danger of fires in your area???

Also something to look at is that you will be dumping Raw Fuel into the intake and exhaust. If you have a Catylitic Converter, you will burn it up.

So, my overall vote is, Yes, it is harmful.

Anytime you mess with a motor in that type of sitiation you will cause harm to the motor. It is designed to run on six cylinders
and should be run on six.

that thing will run well enough to limp itself to a dealer, but that's liable to hydrolock the two disabled cylinders if fuel is still allowed in.
