Possibly, watch what you say, the Christians will start to yell at you.

I agree it is irrational. I am also a Christian. You may wonder how. Well I will tell you. I consider myself somewhat of an intelligent person. I can see very clearly from an atheists point of view that what I believe in seems ridiculous. First of all I know that part of the reason I believe is because as a child I was taught to always love and believe in Christ. Well my adult and rational mind tells me that Christ is no more than a Santa Claus, something people believe in because they want to so badly. However I just can't completely erase what was burned into my mind as a child. Second I have had a personal relationship with God. Of course nothing that can be proved scientifically but a feeling like no other that I could not possible accredit to anything else. I guess that you could say that I 've opted to go with my heart instead of my mind no it doesn't make logical sense but spirituality isn't about logic it's about faith.

I'm not yelling at you. But you should know that most of the private universities were started by Christians. It is more likely that as our universities have started to teach useless drivel more and more people see that going to college does not have the quick financial payoff that it once did. I'm not saying that it is not worth it. Just that our "give it to me now" culture often wants a paycheck sooner.
As for religious belief being irrational; Do you include your own religion? Atheism is just as much a belief system as any other religion. Those who say that it is not, have simply not given it much thought. You may believe that nothing is superior to you. that make you a god. Viola! You have a religion. So I think you may want to disqualify yourself for putting down other peoples intelligence. Otherwise you are being irrational.

What it explains is we have way too many overeducated, unemployable people out there, with absolutely no real life experience or common sense. I'm guessing you had an athiest professor who taught religion class, right? Yeah, you're obviously like many other students, get sucked right in by what you're told, completely gullible enough to believe whatever a professor tells you. You're not the minority you know, lots of kids get sucked in like this. You simply don't have the life experience or rationale to make your own decisions in life yet. Just think dear, do you really want to join the "All Hail the Big Bang from Nothingness" band wagon, and still call yourself rational?

was it your higher degree of education that made you so judgmental and stupid? Gee I guess I should go back and finish my degree so I can climb the intellectual ladder you did. I never realized what I was missing, thank you for pointing it out for me. You should really make it far in life huh?

Oh by the way, most of that 30% figure that you arbitrarily invented, did not as you say, "earn" a degree. They paid tuition and fees and spent 4 or 5 years learning how to question the glue that has held society together for so long. What they learned was how to think stupid. Just like their professors. They have learned how to "profess"......albeit out of their backside more often than not.

No, it does not explain religious beliefs. Not even if you add your "religious belief is irrational" premise. I know plenty of adults who have their undergraduate degrees who are still irrational.

By the way, how do you "know" that religious belief is irrational?

Faith - thanks God - has nothing to do with degrees or acquired learning -

as you know, the world is full of unemployed PhD's and broke geniuses

God loves you - if you like it or not, if you belive it or not - doesn't matter to him

God would prefer if you would use your intelligence and degree to help make the world a better place by first learning about him and his book - the bible - and then help him by explaining it to others who didn't have the chance to get as good an education as you undoubtedly have

God bless you

For many years, the higher paying jobs did not require a degree. Now days most of those jobs have been replaced with technology. Now you must have a degree to get a job barely worth having.

Romans 1:18-23 "For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way, 19 because what may be known about God is manifest among them, for God made it manifest to them. 20 For his invisible [qualities] are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable; 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their unintelligent heart became darkened. 22 Although asserting they were wise, they became foolish 23 and turned the glory of the incorruptible God into something like the image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed creatures and creeping things."

The Bible says that those who do not believe in God are empty-headed with unintelligent, dark hearts. They think they are wise, but they really are foolish. Watch out that you do not fall into this category, because as vs. 18 says, they will experience God's wrath for their inexusable denial of the existence of God.

48% of the population of Alaska lives in Fairbanks. Does this explain religious beliefs? If not, why not? It's as valid as your stupid comment.

That place can in basic terms be supported by ability of ignoring human historical past. If we resigned ourselves to the perception that "specific non secular ideals are keeping us returned as a race" we could desire to forget approximately all those aspects of the worldwide the place faith has had no important impression. China is possibly the terrific occasion. If "specific non secular ideals are keeping us returned as a race" China could have surpassed the West thousands upon thousands of years in the past. It did not. for this reason, based on the information latest in human historical past, the thought "specific non secular ideals are keeping us returned as a race" is unfounded.
