The sun will be in a direct line with the center of the Milky Way on that date and the Earth will complete the 26000 year cycle of it's wobble...
Makes you think.

Yes, of course. If you watched the History Channel, you'd also know that this is corroborated by the Torah code, which says that a comet is supposed to strike earth in 2012! Since the Torah was probably written by aliens, and since the Mayans have many depictions of aliens in their artwork, most notably the carving on the sarcophagus lid fromt the Temple of the Inscriptions, in Palenque, we can only guess that these cultures were warned by alien travellers from the future that the earth would end in 2012. The Palenenque carving depicts a man driving a spaceship, and e know that aliens wrote the Torah and encoded it because it has only been with the advent of computers that we've been able to decipher its messages. Of course, the government knows all of this, but they're keeping it from you, the common person, and they're making certain that, as this date approaches, we are kept distracted from our impending doom by being lured into war and strife.

OPEN YOUR EYES, MAN!! IT'S ALL THERE!!

Makes perfect sense.

Do I think that year 2012 will be the last year humans see on Earth? No.....and I don't think the Mayans thought that either. All "The Dresden Codex" says about the year 2012 is that is a "Black Land, Flood" year, but noone knows exactly what that means.

Most people forget that the Mayans cared just as much about the planet Venus as they did the Earth. Yet, I have never heard a theory that says maybe its Venus that will end in 2012.

what 12 is the final 12? 12...1012....1912....2012?
don't know, don't care...there have been so many "dooms day" things over the years...I would bet in any major city right this second there is some freak standing on a corner yelling.."the end is near"

And if it was going to happen, what the heck could we even do about it? If I knew the end was coming for sure though I can tell you a few rules are gonna get broken Yeeehaw!

C'mon ... millions of people believed that the world was REALLY going to end at midnight on January 1st 2000. I saw dudes on TV that built these whole huge underground bunkers and stocked them like 45 years worth of canned food. OMG, what a waste of money! No, I don't think the world will end then. It will, but not in 6 years.

The fallacy with the Mayan dates in all their history is/was that no one has been able to determine "to what century they referred ".

None of their dating included the century.
By using dates "00-01,02 etc, no century is indicated.

Well, I scoffed until I saw how many La Raza types were on Yahoo! Answers and how they plan to invade and take over the southwest USA. Looks like, according to their own calendar, they will lose in 2012.

Mayans did not say that, but their calendar predicts the world will end on the 12/21/12.

I hope not, but their calendar has NEVER been wrong before. I hope it is this time :)

They do not say that. I asked some down on Mission Street and they say it won't end.

The Long Count calender will end. What will happen is what did when the current long count began in 3114 BC . . . nothing. Why do I say that? because before the current Long Count there was one before it. It didn't end when that one began.

Considering the rate of global warming & its impact on natural disasters, I would not be surprised.

Oh & btw those crackheads down on Mission Street are quite the optimistic bunch, aren't they? ;)
