I know you are reaching out to have someone with you...but your dog needs you now, stay off the computer.
Go love and comfort him...cry and morn...try to be brave and maybe have friends or family around, if possible.
It is OK to be sad.
Have you done all you could? I mean as far as a VET goes? Did you get the word from him that he is dying and nothing can be done?
It is time to give him comfort. Talk to him nicely lovingly.
RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called
Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm so sorry. :( That must be really sad. But what you really need to do right now, is get off the computer and be with your dog in his last moments. You may think you need him, but right now, he needs you. After he dies, you'll probably be sad for awhile. Try doing activities you like, or read, or do something to get him off your mind. And just know, whenever you're ready, if you get another dog, it won't replace your other dog. No dog could replace him. But you can't be sad and empty dog-handed forever.

If I was 100% sure that my dog was dying I would call a mobile vet to come to my house to put him down so that he could die comfortable at home.If I wanted him to go on his own I would still call a mobile vet to check him and give him some pain relief like pain killer. The moblle vet is worth the money becuase you pet is comfortably at home .

It really difficult, but if you love your dog, you should put him to sleep. Your dog seems to be in a great deal of pain. You should get to a point where you can say goodbye and show you love him by doing the hard thing and putting him out of his pain.

Sweetheart - I'm so sorry. When a dog is old they get really tired, and dying is like going to sleep when you're really tired at the end of a long day. He'll be a peace, and you will miss him.

There is an old Irish saying that translates roughly as;
"I grieve with thee"
I think Goldie has said it all. Just be a good Pack Leader.

I am so sad for you. I have a dog who is 13 and is sick with liver cancer. When you are ready to have another pet to bring you happiness you will know. There are groups for people grieving the loss of their pet. You just have to check for them in your area.

Save some of his blood, maybe you can get him cloned one day. Your story is just too sad, wish there is something I could do for you. I'm sure he lived a good happy life, take comfort in that.
