Hey, they aren't our people are they? We need to hold the Mexican government accountable for its citizens. We buy a lot of goods from Mexico and our tourism helps them a lot too. Basically if we stopped buying so many things from them they would have to do something wouldn't they? The problem is would they police their people humanely? If Americans started pouring into any other country on Earth at the rate Mexicans are coming here you can damn well bet the other government would hold us accountable so why can't we do the same?

lol, i think by mean you mean harsh or strict... otherwise it sounds like we are sending them to their room. If you didn't notice, barely any legal mexican immigrants are abused or mistreated - when the unemployment rate rises and people are out of work, the united states doesnt want more immigrants - anyone that is an american citizen is american. every mexican that said the pledge to be an american citizen is as irish as the american whos english family came over in 1760. When they are illegal they are working here for no taxes - which means you, and me, and the whites and blacks and mexicans and asians and EVERYONE who is an american citizen has to pay rising taxes to support those that don't have to pay any - illegals. there was never and problem or argument over immigration - america always let people in, even when they shouldnt have and unemployment was high - right now they still come, when most americans see that it damages the economy. but that isnt the issue at hand - people are mean to illegal immigrants, because they are unfortunately greedy and selfish people who will not wait patiently with their brethren to get a legal citizenship to the u.s. to start a life they think will be better.

I'm truly American, no matter how many times you antis say I'm not. My family is not from another country. We are all here. My newest immigrant ancestor got here over 100 years ago, and the oldest in colonial times. America is a country. Most of it's citizens are native born. As long as your argument is that we are the invaders, that we are immigrants, that we are all immigrants, that you have a right to be here, that we will fail if you leave, that we will fail if we get our labor jobs back, that we stole your land, that this is really Mexico, blah blah blah...you will lose. Your argument is false and illogical. The only way to win is to obey the law, learn English, and be respectful.

I was born here so I am native.
However, the problem is with poor immigrants. In the olden days their childbirth and school and health care costs weren't paid for by the other people living there. Now we pay for poor people, even if they pay all taxes. Poor people just don't pay much taxes.
We feel badly for them or there would never have been so many, however 12 to 20 million of them is ruining schools and health care and driving up crime in areas where they concentrate. There is much more crime amongst illegal aliens than amongst the rest of the population, possibly because some part of that group came here running from the law, to begin with.

My family came here 5 generations ago - legally. While there are no doubt some really ugly comments against Illegal Immigrants there are just as many hypocrits on the left that claim all of us against Illegal Immigration are racist (and mean). That is pathetic. I have no gripes with those here legally, and feel sorry for those trying to come here legally - imagine how they feel jumping through the hoops to become a citizen only to watch 12 million people get it granted to them for breaking the law.

My relatives came here on the Mayflower, in 1620.
They came here legally Dating as far back as my grandfather, we were all born here. That makes us legal citizens.
I don't know of many people that do not want immigrants in our country. Our country was built on immigrants. The problem that we are facing today is illegal immigrants. The ones that come here and soak our system dry by not having health insurance, not having enough money to pay for housing, not being able to support their own children. We, as American citizens have to foot the bill for that. We also have to pay in other ways also, like our prision system being over run with illegals, which we have to pay for. They also bring their gangs, and make neighborhoods hard to live in for people that have lived in their homes for decades. They bring diseases that are spread throughout the US, because they had no health insurance wherever they came from, and were left untreated.
We are tired of having to pay for all of the above ( and I'm sure I have forgotten others ), while we can barely make it from paycheck to paycheck.
They ( the ones from Mexico ) have tried to turn this into a racial issue by protesting in our streets, waving their Mexican flags., and have insulted us even more by singing OUR National Anthem in Spanish, yet wonder what all the fuss is about!!!
We have no problem with the immigrants ( from anywhere ) that wish to come here to better their lives, and that of their families. All we ask is that they " go through the red tape " like our own ancesters did, and quit being such a burden on our society.
I hope this clears things up for you a little anyway.

There are two technical types of Americans: 1. Native Americans that some call Indians 2. People who are born here and appreciate the opportunity the US offers. Just because some ancestor of mine was not born here, does not mean anything. The United States is the first truly free country in the world's history.
We are not mean to immigrants, we want law and order with them. I am sick and tired of foreigners thinking they are entitled to have a job in America. They violate our laws by coming here illegally. Our spineless politicans refuse to deal with the problem. Illegals have put a huge strain on government schools, and forced the closing of many hospitals. Not only that, but there are millions of illegals that refuse to learn English. I am sick of walking into stores and having to hear Spanish language. I am sick of calling an 800 number and having to hit 1 for English.
When you go into someone else's country you have to respect their culture and rules and many (probably most) do not. Mexico does not allow illegals into their country.
It is not an issue of mean, it is an issue of being offended. If I walk into your house, I respect your rules and customs. If you want me to take my shoes off, I do because it is your home. If you are an immigrant and do not like the respect you get, try giving it first.

From the top. . .
We have NO PROBLEM with LEGAL immigrants. It's the ILLEGAL ones that are pis sing us off. No one cares about why they are here, just so long as they go through the legal channels. It's that easy - do it legally. If you can't, then maybe you shouldn't be here. Your economic status will not change with a change of local. If it did, I would move to the richest area in the country!
Long and short: I don't want to pay taxes for someone who doesn't pay taxes to use the programs our government has to offer because they are poor still even after moving to America: Where the streets are paved with gold!

Every country I know of has tougher immigration laws than we do. I think being an American is a privilege. There will always be legal avenues that immigrants can take to deserve this privilege. We need to control our borders for more than economic reasons. In the time of terrorism, it is a necessary option. Have a nice day.

I don't think that the majority of Americans have a problem with immigrants. We have a problem with illegal immigrants. My great-great-grandparents immigrated here from Sweden. They learned the language, the customs and became law abiding assets to the community. The problem most people have is that illegal immigrants come to this country, expect us to change our customs to fit their lifestyle (i.e., printing things in two languages), take advantage of our social programs without paying back into the system, expect us to educate their children and many other things.
I have no problem with immigrants, as long as they follow the proper procedures.
