if its just after it eats it is normal for a cat to overeat but you may need to try a new food if its tummy is sensitive....a good one to try is purina one for sensitive systems....also if this doesnt work you may need to call the vet for a check up

If it's hairballs, try brushing the cat to eliminate excess hair and/or give petromalt to help internally with the hairballs.
If it's NOT hairballs and the cat is throwing up frequently and consistently -- GO TO THE VET!!!! It's absolutely NOT normal for a cat to throw up a lot!! Once in a while, if that's been the norm since you're had it is one thing -- frequently is not -- and it can be an indicator of serious illness from IBS to cancer!! Better not to wait on this, because some of those illnesses hit fast and hard, and had you only known what you were dealing with early on could have caught it.
I can't assess based on the one-line question, so you'll have to judge that for yourself based on the details.
Good luck!!!

Try giving the cat Hartz hairball remedy daily for 1 week. It will help lubricate the digestive tract. It may be a hairball causing a blockage. Feed less food for a few days to see if the problem clears up. If the cat is still vomiting it will need to go to the vet.

For 24 hours take-up his food. Leave his water. Worm him and replace his normal food with hair-ball food. Should see the throwing-up end, after worming, in less than a day. Once he's back to normal, you can return his normal food. Give him hair-ball type food about 3-5 days straight every month. Also, worm every 3-5 months, even if adult cat

Is it really throwing up, or is it thowing up hairballs? Some cats throw up their food because they just try to eat too much at one time or they have sensitive stomaches (especially if you change their food suddenly). Get some hairball medicine and that should help.

I had a cat like that.
it could be the food... s/he may be allergic to something in the brand or flavor of food. Also it may be her/his litter irritating her/his stomach (they swallow some of it when they clean their paws). Some cats stomachs are really sensitive to the sand litter so you may want to switch to wood chips (hamster bedding, and it's actually cheaper). and yes cats will use the wood chip litter. hope this helps a little.
But if that doesn't work, then you prolly want to take him/her to the vet to see if it's something really serious.

On my cat, the vet told me... not food for one day or two (they can handle it alright) and xtra cold water (this makes their little stomaches stop shaking that much and helps food to leave stomach much faster)
If doesn't stop try with 5 to 10 drops of Metoclopramide on its water or directly on its mouth.

One of my cats did that and it was only because he was getting old. we went and got him some kind of grass that is made for cats and its supposed to prevent sickness. It could also be the brand of food you are using. try switching over to a different kind. and if your cat still has problems the only other thing i can think of is to take him/her to the vet. Oh and try giving him/her food at a certain time each day like in the morning and at night but do over feed him/her because that could also be the problem is that he/she is eating to much causing that cat to get to full and get sick
