well...there are wonderful things here too. but in order to be free, to choose in our mind and hearts what is *right* and what is *wrong*, we have to be able to experience the ugly and the beautiful...it's part of living in this world and being human. i've read some questions that are so sad, or so horrible, but also so wonderful, caring and amazing. w/o this kind of forum, i never would've seen either or.... at least i, as i consider myself a good person, good Christian, will be strong enough to face and endure any "ugliness" here, regardless of how I judge it to be. it's not my place, it's God's place to judge, so i will live my life and share the love, open mindedness, and joy as much as i can. if people choose not to listen, i don't think bad of them. if they are interested but don't agree, i think that's awesome! if they agree w/ me, amen! but instead of focusing on the negative, focus on the positive----> if this forum helped ONE person to become a better person, it is worth it.

they just represent society.
reassuring isnt it.
but were not all ugly, i promise.
Brendas world,
you are deeply misguided. Ive noticed that when people make assumptions and generalizations with NO statistical or realistic backing, (the ugly refer to it as talking out of your butt) that these are the people who are below level in intelligence, trust me, I'm an intellectual athiest snob, turned buddhist, turned Christian, and Im sure Im older and wiser, Ive had a long theological journey and Ide be willing to challenge your "research and studies" at any time, and do so in a loving fashion.
Peace be with you.
to the asker, ive been coming here some time now and it has been almost painful at times for me to see what breeds in society, but its out there, regardless, and all we can do is try with all our hearts to be the people that make a difference.
I find my peace in God, and dont look towards others for it because we are all imperfect.
I wish you peace, and im glad you have the tenderness and ability to feel disgusted by those that are "ugly", some people cant even see that, you are blessed.

It's mostly the religious believers that are sick and emotionally ugly. Religious believers are so hateful and venomous towards normal people.
First up, I have to say in fairness to some posters (religious believers) that there are some decent fair-minded and balanced people amongst you. However, scan through the various religious questions, including my own, and a trend clearly emerges.
Most of the religious believers and followers become very aggressive towards non-believers of their religion and/or Atheists who are really just trying to help others understand the severely negative and damaging influence religion has on humanity.
Most religious posters seem unable to debate logically, lack intellectual reasoning, tend to be typically repetitive cut/paste artists due to their lack of skills, and are typically venomous towards fair-minded balanced Atheists just trying to guide people away from religion so they can have a happier peaceful life.
My studies and research shows that religious people are not exactly rocket scientists, they tend to be below average intelligence, and also have a tendency to be more violent than non-believers. In some cases, the more violent the person, the more religious they are. I suspect that the vast majority of religious people are well below average intelligence. Perhaps that's a reason why they're sick and full of ugliness.

I agree, that is why you see so much less of me. It is quite ugly here now. It used to be stimulating debate, now its just ignorant people spouting their self-righteous bile.
"Brenda's World" - You are making an assumption. Do you not realize that the people who make themselves look religious, yet spout the things you note are really just pretending? Now think about it. If you wanted to defame, say, Islam. What would be more effective? To come in as a bigot and make horrid claims, or claim to be a Muslim, say a few religious things, then make outrageous comments? Only the insightful would call them on it. The rest would take the low road and say all Muslims are evil and corrupt. It's easy to be duped. You seem intelligent, Brenda. Try to see the agenda before painting with a broad brush.
Most of those (including myself) who are legitimate believers, and can express our views properly, have decided to leave this forum because of the ugliness and have tired of continually trying to counter-act all of the wolves in sheep clothing.

What is "this place?" If you are in a hospital you have to expect to see sick people. If you mean the world in general you need to get out more, see some other places, meet some other people. If you are in high school things will get better as soon as you graduate. If you are depressed, get medical attention. There is a great deal to enjoy even in relatively unpleasant places but you won't be able to appreciate them if you are depressed. Get help and start enjoying your brief sojourn on the planet.

It's not a difficult thing to screen the questions and answers you want to participate in. I mean it doesn't take much intelligence to know when someone is posting a question to draw flames or when someone answers a question to tick off the asker. Just ignore them and have fun. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the barrel.

Wow Brenda'sworld is so cool... die religious believers die die!!.. boring.
Who cares if you believe in something? Atheist is a type of religion (yea...just crushed your dream didn't I?) that believes in no higher power, but apparently they need the rest of the world to believe that too...
Why there are so many sick people here?: Its the internet, we can all hide behind our computers, then go out see each other in real life and do nothing at all like on yahoo answers.. fun fun ^_^

Because that's what the human race truly is. People you meet in the real world are, ironically, fake because they can't hide behind a computer screen. On the net, you can vent your deepest, darkest side to the world and no one will know the wiser.

It can get nasty around here, and I can't claim to have had no part in that. But I've also made some friends here and I wouldn't have missed that for the world.

BECAUSE OF THE god OF THIS WORLD;
Re 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Re 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
2co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
