Since this petition has caused so much controversy I would like to state first and foremost that the dog used on the show was not a pit bull. This petition never stated that it was a pit bull, and the title of this petition does not state that it was a pit bull. You can see a picture of the dog here: http://www.nbc.com/Fear_Factor/gross/621_canine_attack.shtml

Everyone calling this petition slander towards pit bulls is completely missing the point. Whether the dog was a pit bull or not, 99% of the people that saw the show are going to assume that it was. Pit bulls were the target and pit bulls are the ones that will be most affected!
Read what this petition is really about before you make complaints.

This isn't about cruelty, this is about the negative portrayal of pit bulls and other misunderstood breeds. Fear Factor and NBC are in poor taste airing that program when there is such a spotlight on

I thought the dog used on the Fear Factor episode in question was a sort of Mastiff and they had a German Shephard also. I don't think these dogs should ahve been shown attacking anyone. We have enough Dog Fights going on in the U.S that need to be stopped! Support your local Humane Society and give a hand to these poor animals! Its because of us that they are this way. Shame on Humans for turning such loving animals into attack dogs! Shame on us!
BTW I use to owen an English Mastiff that was oner 150 pounds and gentle as anything he was my baby.

All Rots, pit bulls, mastiffs, ETC. are very nice dogs who I love!!! It is how they are trained and treated! My Dad was looking in horror out the window while I was pulling my German Sheppard's tail as a small child while eating. He knew I did not know no better so he just scooted me out of the way so he could eat. Plenty of people I know have had these dogs such as Pitts and have had nothing but gentle giants who would never harm a small child or a fly.

My wife is a veterinary technician.
I believe, Pit Bulls and Rottweilers are not FULLY 100% domesticated animals. Something clicks in their wild nature and suddenly BANG they are vicious.
(Have you ever watched court TV and seen a case of Poodle attack?)
If I had a dime for every pet owner/mauling story that goes like this;
"He was such a loving dog..."
or
"I don't know what happened. She was fine one minute, then..."
or the famous
"But he's NEVER bitten anyone BEFORE"

Basically, people who defend these breeds are people who have been lucky enought NOT to see their daughter get chewed on.

I'd LOVE to know your opinion THEN.

Hey if this was a Fear Factor challenge then they go into it knowing the danger potential for injury and consequences for having the challenge in the first place.

They're stupid for even going through with the challenge and all for what MONEY! Greedy MONEY!
