If i was stranded on an island i would probably read whatever book was there. People shouldn't be afraid to read anything that challenges their faith. If it's a solid faith, than you should be able to defend it.
i've actually read Origin of Species before... i don't think i would fall in love with the book nor care to remember it word for word.

1. I am not afraid to read the Origin of Species. In fact, I plan to read it. By the way, I have read things about evolution before.
2.I do not hate the book. I just believe it to be wrong.
3. yes, I would still be the same Bible-believing, Jesus-loving, sold out Christian that I am.
Besides, if I was stranded on that island for so long without rescue, I'd probably spend most of my time singing praise to God and accepting that that was something He was having me go through for a reason. I would also remember and recite the many verses of Scripture that I had memorized as a child.

I can read anything.. but just because it's there doesn't mean it would get read. Even if I did read it it would not change my beliefs.
First of all, I would not be ALONE.. The Lord is always with me.. Secondly, I would more likely use the pages of the book for kindling of a fire and/or toilet paper than to waste my time reading it. There are many other ways to pass time than read. How many times could you read that one book anyway? If I did read it, it would likely be once.
However, like I said, there are far better uses for a book when stranded on a desert island than using it as reading material. As a matter of fact, I would probably look at it as an ironic sign from God, that I should use a book with such a title to further my survival. :)

Hi, good question...my answer...maybe God put the book there!
There could be something in there that could help me find my way home...my God is a practical God...
I would pray, and read the book...and if 10 yrs had gone by, He must have had a reason for me still being there, and it would be up to me to find out what it was...
I'm just a follower of my Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ on the straight and narrow path.....how wonderful to be on a beautiful beach alone....oh, just remembered i'm never alone, Jesus said He would never leave me or forsake me....how's that for love and loyalty....

Christians are NEVER alone.
Christians read lots of things and are still Christians.
You could have said "The New York Times" or
"Winnie the Pooh".
What about the Christians who went to public schools and the Christians who became lawyers, doctors and judges?
Christians are Christians.......even after watching years and years of poor television programming.
If I found this book that you mention, would you assume that I'd READ it because there was nothing else to do? I could use it to make a fire or a sail or a bandage.

Ive read Origin of the Species, I went to Catholic School and believe it or not it was required reading. I think you forget that most Christians went to school too and had to learn these things like you did. In any event, I have a lot of books I love, but they never changed my life, only the Bible did.

What if you were stranded in the middle of the Pacific with nothing but a Bible? Would you be afraid to read it? When you came to love the comfort found in it, would you still be the same person you used to be, an atheist, agonstic, or other unbeliever?

to try to merely prove christianity wrong with one book it probably the wrong approach. our world is very precisely designed, and natural selection has left the strong standing. but i think that precission is the design of a higher power. I don't think the christians have it , nor do i think the other major religions of the world have it right either. but i think we all pray to the same god and just don't know it, there obviously were dinosaurs on this planet, and we obviously evolved from other human like orders. i do not any longer consider myself christian, but i do believe in god, call him or her or it what you want, but there is too much order on this planet to have been mere chance. our evolution was certainly controlled or watched over. there is order and design on earth. i hope you consider this good feedback. i'd enjoy responding to more on this subject.

Yes I believe in both at the same time. That's why Cain was worried about the others when he went to nod. There were people already evolving on the planet. And I'm as much into science as religion, find both fascinating.

As carol M says that when you are a Christian you are never alone. But I probably would read it to see what others believe, and from that God would show how false it is and I would grow closer to him. I also would probably recited verses on that Island.
