It can be both depending on how they are raised. I have never had problems with either. They loved kids and got along with other animals.

I would say that a male is always more aggressive than a female of any breed of dog. Of course, individual temperament will differ with each animal because of genetics and up- bringing just like with humans. males will be made quieter natured by neutering.

Depends on the upbringing and training-
Unneutered male dogs get into more fights, not necessarily because they can be more aggressive, but since other dogs attack them more.

Entire male dogs set off the defensive instinct in other dogs.
most entire males are either macho aggressive or very timid and cringing.

Violence always depends on the specific dog. Female dogs are generally more protective than males, more temperamental... Males can be harder to control when excited thanks to size... Violence isn't really the issue and it pretty much goes for all breeds... There will always be exceptions of course...
