No religion is the correct one, and all religions have got it wrong, and all religions lie.

There are many major religions in the world, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, and so on. Within each major religion there can also be many minor religions. For example, within Christianity there is Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and so on. Within Islam there is Shiite, Sunni etc.

In summary there are many hundreds of different religions in the world all with their devoted believers and followers. Talk to any devout religious person and they will almost emphatically insist that their religion is the right one, it’s fact, and any non-believer is doomed.

Commonsense and logic would suggest that if there was any truthful or factual basis to religion, then only one of these religions could be correct, not all of them. However, in my view, it’s highly unlikely that any of these man-made religions bear any resemblance to fact or the truth, and are more likely to be the result of simplistic human intelligence looking for an escape from reality.

Religion is a serious mental illnesses. It’s the inability to face the reality of life and the finality of death. It affects 85% of the USA and 75% of US victims are Christians. The more pathetic and desperate a persons life, the more likely they are to believe in a god. People with otherwise empty lives, are the strongest believers. It gives them false hope that there’s a higher meaning to their sad and pathetic lives.

Religious people are dangerous. They cannot think for themselves, but instead cling to every word the bible says. Religious fanatics can somehow throw out all scientific evidence and replace it with the word of one book that has no credibility.

Recognising religion as a type of mental illness would be a good start to help cure this disease. We should develop support groups along the lines of Alcoholics Anonymous - “My name is Sam and I’m a recovering Christian ...”

I walked away from the Church and haven't been back.

All one need do is read the Bible. If a math book opened with 2 + 2 = 7 you would throw it away. So read Genesis and no matter how much of the allotted time you allow, the maximum age of the Earth is 10,000 years. Anyone who really believes that needs help, lots and lots of professional help. BTW the list of items like this one is virtually endless.

All it takes to be an Atheist is to read analytically any book on which a religion is based.

Well, I stayed very angry for 10 years.

Then, I realized that people lied to me, not God, and I realized that I still strongly believed in God.

Form the point of view that I knew God was real, but that I was not so sure about anything else from my church background, I began doing what the bible says, "Prove All Things".

My advice is to deal with your anger, and try to have a personal one-on-one, no church in the way, relationship with God. Figure out what you believe 100%, prove your belief in God, Jesus Christ, the bible. (This is where I am.) Then, maybe in the future, you can look for another church - a better church.

Anyway, this is my experience. I hope it helps.

This is a serious question. The bible its self is a book of faith. In other words you have to decide that you believe that it is the word of God. People will tell you it was mis-translated or there are errors because men wrote it, but if you read it and believe it you can't let those who don't believe shake your faith. Second you need to search the scriptures, ask for the Holy Spirit to Guide you and give you understanding. Third the Bible says these are they that keep the commandments of God and have the Testimony of Jesus Christ. Pray. Study. Prove all things . . . hold fast to that which is good.

You must not have been paying attention when you signed on because most religions are very up-front and proud of their beliefs. But if you feel betrayed there are hundreds of other religions out their and one of them is sure to be the perfect fit for you. Happy Hunting.

Take a little vacation from religion to clear your mind. Promise yourself you won't do any spiritual seeking until you've given your mind time to recover. It's just like dating - you don't want to end up in rebound relationship because you didn't take a breather. so give yourself 6mos to 3 years off *without guilt* to figure out who you are without a religious backdrop. Then you can start looking for something to believe in again.

REPENT! Find Jesus! Praise Him for showing you the right way!!! ... ask for forgiveness for the things you now know were wrong. Live life the way He wants you to live. Turn around and save the others that you love (some more or some less) and Tell Them What you found. Do what you have to do to keep them from going to Hell! If they laugh, ignore you or turn into snobs, KEEP AT IT! Your reward will be Heaven someday!
Prayers going your way!

That would be bad - grounds to go completely mental and trash the place I would think, like The Matrix when Neo wakes up and the real world is a lab run by technology. We'll probably wake up ourselves soon....

There are lies in any religion taught by man. When you stop trusting man for the truth and start trusting God... You're in much better shape.
