Three times a day. His daily ration is divided into three meals. Feeding a dog, especially deep chested dogs that are prone to bloat, only once a day is dangerous. Too much food in there stomach all at once can cause them to bloat. Besides, they get hungry, just like we do.

I have two dogs and have watched friends dogs for them, I generally feed them a good amount and when that runs out I fill it again. I have noticed that they only eat it when they are hungry and leave it alone when they are not. They don't over eat. Now if you have a dog that over eats then you may want to measure out the food regularly like others do. I have had dogs all my life and always started them out this way. I usually only feed dry dog food, it helps their teeth stay cleaner. In the winter I try and give more wet food to keep them a little chunkier in the winter to stay warm, in the summer it's more of a treat. Good luck. If all you feed is wet dog food, then I would probably measure as too much food can go bad if it sits or they over eat.

Well with my dogs alot. I have a Shar pei and a Chocolate lab. I used to own Pits but found that chocolate labs were easy to train. Anyway, because my chocolate is so active she eats 3-4 times a day. Our Shar pei however only eats 2 times a day. She is not as active and so would become obese if she got the same amount. It all depends on the animal. They get about 3 treats a day more sometimes if training.

I leave dry dog food down all the time. My dog never overeats and is not over or underweight. I also give treats fairly freely, but try not to overdo it. Some people do not like to overdo treats because they feel the dog will become overweight. A lot of the times that is not true. The dog will be full from treats and not eat his/her regular food and thus does not get the proper nutrition.

I just read that you are supposed to feed them twice a day. But, I only actually feed mine around 6:00 pm. She doesn't usually eat until later. If she eats it all or acts hungry the next day, I will feed her again.

I have two dogs- Black Lab mix & Sibersian Husky mix- both over 50 lbs. I feed them twice a day morning and evening - 1.5 cup of dry food each time with 1 can of wet food.

They love it!

I also give them rawhide, smoked bones, pig ears, puppy biscuits and peanut butter - one of these at one given day. This way they don't lode interest in any of these and feel rewarded.

2 times a day. In the morning, and at night. I just give my dog one cup of dog food, or half of those gourmet dog foods on each meal. I hope this answered your question.
