According to the story, it was the angel of the Lord who stood in the flames with these three, and you are using their Hebrew names--very good!! Most people know them by their Chaldean names of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

Are these stories in Daniel myths? Some Biblical scholars would agree that they are. But just because they are mythological in origin does not mean they are not great stories of inspiration --even today we embrace the mythic in a range of films, books, cartoon characters, etc. For example, the story of Harry Potter has captivated adults and children alike -- in antiquity, stories such as those found in Daniel --miraculous and magical held the same sort of appeal and helped people cope with the harshness of life at that time (just as we live under enormous stress in the present world.

An angel of the Lord - which one is speculation. I presume you are referring to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

4 - good job on the Hebrew names, most people wouldn't know who you were talking about, or they would say "don't you mean Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego?"

Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
