Well it certainly depends on the target.... just like with hunting... use the right ammunition, or in this case bait.... and you bag bigger and better fish.....

Usually live bait is always the most productive for me

depends on what your fishing for, where your fishing and weather conditions. but in general live bait is always a safe bet.

Depending on what you're fishing for....cut bait--shad, heiring, eel; night crawlers; live bream, heiring, small white bass....this is for fresh water fishing. I've used all of these and had success.

what kind of fish are you trying to catch. I've used everything from power bait, to marshmallows, to meal worms and wax worms. i have used night crawlers and shrimp when fishing for catfish

everyone else is right, it realllly depends on the conditions but as far as i've seen, the most versatile species catching baits are worms for freshwater and shrimp for saltwater. if you really want to catch them though the old saying goes MATCH THE HATCH....

it is what you have the most confidence in, for this will keep you fishing longer, therefore probably catching more fish. The more fish you catch chances are increased for one to be a bigger fish.
