All 14 of them are facing deportation proceedings.

All of the Latino advocacy groups are heated.

I'm just asking for your opinion people, that's all.

I just think it's funny because if they were pulled over in Providence, the green card wouldn't have been an issue. Since they were pulled over in a wealthy neighborhood, they got caught.

I could see the "Statie" asking the driver for ID, but was it necessary to "card" the passangers as well ?

Actually, they can do this. Especially now, many people are voting for law enforcement to have immigration authority. But, it is dependent on your jurisdiction.

They don't do that in Tennessee they are hauled into court for driving without a license and forced to get them or at the very least a state ID and insurance. If they can't most just move on. The thing is the immigrants can get fake green cards pretty easily. Most come to the states with them. But unfortunately the government is hell bent on throwing people back and not dealing with the problem. I say we reinvent the INS and make them a welcoming committee to those who are not terrorists.

They couldn't produce a drivers license, so it is natural for the police to ask for some sort of identification. I don't see what the issue is? They were driving illegally without a license, they were in this country illegally, and I'm assuming they probably had no insurance. It's a bad mix all the way around. With the details you have provided, I am siding with the Police on this one.

Yes, it was right. Why the hell are they driving if they don't have licenses? This is a big problem with illegals. Here, it is the same way. They are pulled over every day here and NEVER EVER have licenses or insurance. This is one of the big problems I have with illegals. They think that they should be able to pick and chose which laws to obey. It just doesn't work that way. I hope they deported these morons. Did they?

Yes. Way to go Rhode Island. If get pulled over by a policeman, they ask for your drivers license, registration and proof of insurance because it is the law. Why get heated because someone is following the law.

This was right! No doubt about it! The police throughout the USA should be asking people for more information, particularly if they cannot show a valid drivers' license or insurance.

It was right. If you are in South Carolina and do not have a legal license, you will be asked for a green card...then you will be detained until ICE arrives to deport you.

All police should do that. I'm not pushing for deportation of the 'good' ones, but we NEED to enforce our laws, whatever they end up being. What sort of message do we send if our police 'aren't allowed' to ask immigration status?

Heck yea it's right.....why wouldn't it be? It is against the law to be here illegally AND driving without insurance & license.
The officer who stopped them should get a nice raise or bonus!

Of course, kind of suspicious if you do not have a proper I.D. plus with all the terrorist movements and the people that cross the illegal aliens, there has to be something done. Plus if we do not like it, stay home.
