They want you to appreciate it and it sounds like they don't believe that you do. From the way you worded your post, I'd have to agree with them. Him being rich doesn't mean you are rich. You will become an adult and may have to support yourself one day. Tell them thank you more often. It really is a gift to be privileged. Most of us aren't and couldn't imagine it.

The only advice I can give you is to thank them for helping you - it sounds as if they are bringing up all the money they are spending on you to get some kind of response from you. I always remember to thank people, even for the smallest things, because it encourages them to give more. If you can't bring yourself to say it, write your father a letter and let him know that you are grateful to him for everything he's done for you, and that he's a good parent. He may just want some recognition and while it costs nothing to give, it could be priceless to him.

they do it because they want you to see that money isn't really the main issue here. its more about "return on investment" or appreciation. your parents want the best for you. and if the dad is doing so well already, guess what? he wants you to do even better! its your duty. send your family into the new generation properly. they are putting that trust and faith on you. you could now do only one of two things; FIGHT for what they think of you or take a FLIGHT away from the pressure! you cant fly without resistance, so make your dad a happy man!

Because they want you to be grateful for all they do for you and maybe feel that you are unappreciated. Or depending on your age, it could be a hint that they are sick of supporting you. Regardless of how much money your father makes, it's his money. Maybe you should consider a part time job to help out with your expenses.

I would say more than any thing else they are trying to teach you the value of a dollar. They want you to understand what it is costing them to live. It's not that you have done anything wrong at all. They are just trying to teach you a lesson in life.

Because they want to instill responsiblity in you... they want you to know that you can't always rely on them for money and a place to live. They don't want you to be spoiled, and they want you to learn the value of a dollar (or in your case, a Euro).

maybe they want you to realize how much things cost and not to take it for granted you were born into a family that is loving and can properly provide for you when so many can't provide the opportunities you have to their children.

When you have to earn a living you will understand how hard it is, especially if you have an ungrateful child.
