In 1996, Microsoft renamed the OLE 2.0 technology to ActiveX. This version of OLE is commonly used by Web designers to embed multimedia files in Web pages.

In the wake of losing a patent lawsuit with Eolas, Microsoft announced on December 2, 2005, "After a forthcoming update, Microsoft Internet Explorer users will not be able to directly interact with Microsoft ActiveX controls loaded by the APPLET, EMBED, or OBJECT elements."[1] Functionally, this means that Internet Explorer users must "activate" objects such as Flash navigation bars and QuickTime movies before they can interact with them. The objects still display, but the user cannot do anything with them (for example, pause a playing movie) until they activate them. When users move their cursors over such an object a pop-up window directs them to "Click to activate and use this control." If they then click on the object, they may subsequently use it in normal fashion.

ActiveXs are objects used in modern programming. They offen come with a *.OCX file. (OLE control X)

the object of ActiveXs are somehow simliar to the DLLs(Dynamic Link Libraries)
DLLs are pre-written codes and functions used by programmers. When u want the function of a code, not it's source to be used by others, you make a DLL out of this code, And publish it.

ActiveXs are same, For example, a Checkbox, a CommandButton (OK button) or anything else on a window, are ActiveXs

They are created by other programmers, And are published as objects, you simply add them into your programs and use them just by refering to their methods, properties, and abilities.

Now if you've just recieved an error telling that ActiveX missing, it means that you're trying to execute a program, Which uses a pre-made ActiveX, and the ActiveX doesn't exist in your system (not installed well), or not registered.

Simply find which ActiveX is missing, Locate the *.OCX file which refers to the ActiveX, and copy it to the program folder. This way, u don't need to register it.

4 example, DirectX is a set of ActiveXs made to ease game makers of their process, so that they can simply use the automade game effects and etc.

anymore help,
