Israel can take care of itself... it's none of our business and we need to worry about our own situation, in Iraq.

Nope. They should have stopped weeks ago. Hezbollah was created out of the last Israeli war against Lebanon in the 1980's and with every subsequent war Israel just makes them bigger & more powerful. Even the Christian Lebanese kids want pictures of Nazrallah on their walls, how screwed up is that. You have to believe that Israel is settling down for an existance of perpetual war. Oh, 5 more Palestinian civilians killed today by an IDF bomb, one of them a 1 year old baby girl. Wipe them out before they get to stone throwing age.

Look at this from the standpoint of history. Hizb'ollah fight toward the destruction of Israel- why? The country of Isarel was born out of war since 1947. Many Arabs and especially the Palestinian people (so named becuase they inhabited the land where Israel is today- Palestine), despise Israel and the policies of the Israeli government because they feel they were cheated. The dissolution of Palestine and the conquest of the area formerly known as the Levant, is not entirely an Israeli born problem. Prior to the creation of Israel we saw the League of Nations carve up territory of the former Ottoman Empire and give ruling mandates to European nations like Britain and France. If you look at a map of the Middle East you will see nations that have very cleanly drawn borders- (except where there is a valuable resource). European intervention into Arab/ Muslim affairs had given rise to violence and anti- western rhetoric decades before our current nightmare. Isarel was created by a decalration of soveignty and support and recognition of the U.S. After world war 2, the horrors of the holocaust forced many Jews to emigrate from Europe- why> Because Europe did not care about the genocide that was levelled against Jews and those who they did lie. Today anti-semetism is alive and well across Europe. With all the people leaving Europe in search of a Jewish Homeland in the middle east, violece was enacted against the power holding the ruling mandate over Palestine- England. Jewish terrorist- or founding fathers as some would say- bombed and assasinated thier way to power by killing British military and policital officals as well as Palestinians. European forces were attacked by the Arabs as well so it is no wonder why Britain simply quit the region.
So what does this mean today? Should Israel stop? Simply YES... Israel has been so bent on protecting herself that they have taken control over most resources in the region- especially water. Palestinians and other Arabs call for the destruction of Israel- so why should Israel be ready to concede or negotiate? This problem is about a two displaced peoples in history who are seeking a place to call home. As long as the U.S. supplies Israel with bombs that frequently target civilian areas... Iran will supply Hizb'ollah with arms to launch against mainly civilian areas of Israel.
I take no sides in this except to say I find it very suspect that Israel targetd a UN monitoring OUtpost the very same day the international community called for a peaekeaping force to secure the area... it is obvious that Israel does not respect the wishes of the UN so long as the military objectives of Israel are not being met. Hope this helps us all understand that this is more about European colonization and failed policy than an Muslim/ Jew conflict.

Way to Go TruthinHistory!!!! Yes they should stop. Truthinhistory neglected to mention that all Israelis (MEN AND WOMEN) are forced to join the military at age 18 and serve 2 years minimum. After which they are required to perform reserve service. So there is really no such thing as a "civilian" Israeli. This is the stuff they don't tell you on the six o'clock news. They are all combat trained. With that said, Israel is the only one really bombing civilians. THINK ABOUT IT!!!

No. Unfortunately, if leaving their neighbors alone hasn't led to peace then perhaps the only way to move towards peace is to make life in Lebanon so miserable that leaving Israel alone will be appealing. It's very sad what is happening, but after years of showing restraint Isreal is speaking in the language the region understands, violence.
If the Lebanese want peace so badly, kick out the extremists and stop the arms from flowing to them. If you can't seek peace for ethical reasons (because Isreal has a right to exist) then maybe they will seek peace for survival reasons- the misery of war is their alternative.

For all you people that support Israel. Israel stole the land they occupy from the arabs in 1948 because "God" said it belonged to them! Hezbollah see themselves as freedom fighters, not terrorists. The two Israeli soldiers were "kidnapped" in a bid to recover the 9000 Lebanese citizens that Israel is illegally holding. Just because Bush and Blair support Israel, does not mean they are correct! Find out the facts for yourself and make your own minds up instead of blindly following the masses! Thats why this world is in such a state!

I think its sad that Israel of all countries can think it's acceptable to massacre an innocent population. This is collective punishment, they can't get to Hezbollah so any Lebanese person will do. The idea that they are trying to defend themselves is a worthless argument. By killing innocent people the will only make Hezbollah stronger as more people support them than ever.

Of course even the Christians are behind them! Hezbollah protects, rebuilds, supports medically and finacially and defends those people. They both need to stop. It's not going to happen but more than anything we need to stop putting our nose in it and being so quick to take a side! Hezbollah is backed by Iran and Syria.... we give Hezbollah problems there will be another war... and this could be the big one.

Stop what? Existing? Israel is trying to survive, just like we are something which those intolerant muslims are not prepared to allow. They are trying to destroy everything in the world that is not muslim. 9/11, 7/7, wake up and smell the coffee! Islam is the real baddie here.

They reap what they sow. How can Hezbollah be labeled the bad guy for killing, and Israel be labeled the good guy for killing? Who threw the first punch is so high school, yet this is the example the world leaders set. What a shame.
