Good question!
For me, worship is about all aspects of my life, not just singing. So in all I do that is done' for God, I bring praise and honor to His name. There are many times I find myself humming tunes or singing songs to myself - I consider that Worship too.
In service, I will only really sing songs I know and understand. In other words, sometime the older or more rare songs are too difficult for me to keep up with. I never "dance" physically in service but certainly dance with my heart. There are many songs we sing that bring me excitement and joy. I occasionally find myself just "mouthing" words and not really worshiping. it happens. And I bet it happens to everybody. I get too much on my mind and God gets pushed out. But generally, I try to keep myself engaged into the practice of worshiping the True and Powerful and Loving God with all my heart, soul, and mind.
By the way - I do occasionally dance while worshiping but usually not during service... for the sake of the poor people who would have to witness it - not pretty...
Anyway - I think worship is so important to help keep your flame going and we easily fall into the trap of just going through the motions. It's great to get a wake-up call and remember why we do it - not because it's a scheduled part of service but because we are IN LOVE with God.
Praise God. Thank you for the great question and be blessed.

When I wasn't that spiritual and stuff before, I would just sing just because everyone is. I tried really hard to mean what I was singing and actually feel the lyrics to the songs, but it just wouldn't work. I wasn't connected to the music no matter how hard I tried. Then one year at my summer camp, I was suddenly so into the music and everything. My relationship with Christ was stronger and I was starting to actually mean what I say. About that dancing thing(I love that song by that way), I'm never much of a dancer anyway. But I do see people around really into the music, so maybe that's like dancing? Honestly, I don't know the answer to your question. But I do mean what I sing, or at least I try to, and I do agree with most of what the lyrics are saying. I don't think I've ever came across a song with lyrics I don't agree with.

I have no idea why that guy reported you at all. I did not find the offensive in the least.
I sing all of the words of all the songs (so long as I can figure out the tune, LOL). I have never heard the "dancing" song, but I would sing it anyway because of the feeling in my heart. Kind of like my heart is dancing for joy, even if it is the custom of that church to not dance during liturgy.
In my mind, I was always taught that singing is praying twice. I was taught, and I believe, that God does not care what we sound like, because that is how He created us. So I sing to express my praise to the Lord, so I can more fully worship Him, so I can tell the Father how much I love Him.
I have only seen one song that I have flatly disagreed with the theology of that song, and so I did not sing it.
Otherwise I sing my praise to the Creator as often as possible. Can you tell I love to sing? LOL
God Bless,
Vic

Go to a few more churches! We have many youths at our services, and they dance in the pews, aisles, etc. Even the older folks get up and jig! Looks like a mosh pit at times! I'm sure some will look upon this as being irreverent, but the word does say that the joy of the Lord is our strength. Even David did it, a man after God's own heart.
I know what you mean about truth in worship and the words we say. At one time, I had reservations about singing praises that used verses like " I will", instead of "He will". It seems to be giving the singer glory, not God. It all comes down to the intent of the heart of the worshiper. If it expresses our love to God,and His love towards us, I believe it pleases our Father.

I'm a Christian, and this is one of the reasons I don't attend church. Those that are going every week because 'that's just what you do' are some of the most superficial people I know. The most amazing Christians I know (amazing in their faith and in their everyday lives) don't attend church, and prefer to worship in their own way. Each person is different, and rather than doing what is expected of me, I'd much rather actually do something that has some kind of impact.

Not sure why you were reported except that his name is Cpt Angry...
Anyway, I was always bothered by some of the songs that seemed like funeral dirges but had the word rejoice or similar in it. It didn't sound like anyone in my church was rejoicing when we were "Bringing in the Sheaves". My youth group was much different, there, we actually made joyful noises unto the Lord! I don't dance either (and if you saw me attempt to, you'd know why) but I'd love for more Christians to be dancing in the aisles during hymns.

i am part of the praise and worship team at my church.
i sing, i dance, i clap. (sometimes i even shout!)
some people dont do this, but that doesn't mean they arent praising and worshipping. some are more internal, im both :)
i sing all the words, even if i dont understand them or feel them. eventually i gain an understanding what they really mean for me.
i look at it this way: i read the bible and sometimes i dont understand the words, but i read it anyway. eventually, i will gain an understanding in my soul and spirit.
good question... God bless!

Years ago I was interpreting (sign language for the deaf) a worship service when that song was led. It is kinda hard to sign that without doing it ;-)
