Which one explains how the universe fundamentally works better, string theory or the bible? Isn't it impressive how the Quantum Mechanics and Relativity can be combined so eloquently? Could the bible combine the force of gravity with the three other forces in the universe as well? Isn't it pretty cool how M-theory does away with the need for a beginning or an end to the universe, and therefor doesn't require a creator? Isn't it beautiful how string theory resonates with music and isn't it an amazing coincidence that "universe" translates to "one song" in English?

As a theist M-theory is most impressive. I am intrigued at how it predicts time even before the big bang. While they are both far from concrete, they do offer interesting ideas.

I have to admit the mathematics are beyond me. I get to Ito calculus and call it a day. I understand the theory, in English words, but sadly I cannot grab hold of the math required. Of course I would then be a physicist. Now relativity has greater simplicity and I can grasp that, but string theory is beyond my math skills.

You must be used to dealing with Protestants who worship the bible or often come awful close to it. The bible, fortunately, isn't that kind of document. It really is a disaster in terms of its science. If it were used as a science document it would take very little time to get it discarded from use. Most people never read the verses where it really discusses a science world view.

On the other hand, most people don't need such a view for day to day existence. The world could be flat for most people on this planet and they would get by just fine. So in a sense, Quantum Physics is irrelevant whereas the Bible is relevant for most people. The danger is in confusing the two. I happen to have a book on differential topology next to me. On the one hand, it is totally irrelevant to 5.999999 billion of the 6 billion on this planet. On the other hand, all six billion except for small children make extensive use of it and just don't know it.

Don't wax poetic on the music of the spheres and now have the music of the strings. Music is a human social concept that has no independent existence. When humanity is gone, there is no music. In fact, if we were all gone tomorrow, but a player automatically started playing Mozart's 5th Symphony it would not be music but simply sound.

Both impress me but for different reasons. The bible is mostly less impressive than string theory, much of it was written on an elementary school level of grammer. Translators go nuts in some places fixing the translation into something that doesn't sound like "See Jane run, run Jane run." On the other hand, for what the Bible is intended to do, it excels, usually. Remember though, String Theory was written by the academic best of an advanced culture. The bible was written by ordinary people, mostly, under what Jews and Christians believe was inspiration. That is the extraordinary part.

I kinda like string theory, There off about 5% though. There are things I like about M-theory but does not take the spring action for matter well. I'm sure that they will merge the two given enough time to come to a correct view of matter and the formation of the universe. Once they do there will be no difference between what the bible says and there theory.

I think it depends what kind of "Christian" or religious person you ask. Myself I believe in a higher spirit or God, but, I also believe most of the bible is a parable. I believe that String theory, Quantum physics and the constant proof between the Newton's false theory and Einstein's correct theory in the end all compliment my view on spirituality. Which is God is energy. God is life. My vision of God is not going to condemn Scientists to hell like most Christians though, so come on over and we can chat in the afterlife. ha ha. :) I want to know what someone needs saved from? A loving God, My GOD, would never let his children suffer.

They are quite impressive but they're too young at this point. They've yet to enter the realm of experimental. I'm not sure about the idea that the universe had no beginning. It seems to go against the evidence we have for a 'big bang.'

Hawking has shown mathmatically that it doesn't require a beginning, but he himself admits his calculations are in 'imaginary time.' In math, imaginary numbers can be very useful but you have to go from real, to imaginary, and back to real again for it to mean anything. Hawkings essentially admits this much.

CRR>>Nor can we anticipate the belief of evolution to end being a thought; that's by using no ability a certainty to then you somewhat admit no longer understanding the version between a common thought and a scientific thought! in case you probably did understand..you does no longer have made such an ignorant fact The TOE is a scientific thought> one that is SUPPORTED by using tens of millions upon tens of millions if information. that's the main information supported scientific thought of all time... Evolution is an reported Phenomena!

And the answer from the Christians will be:

"Yeah, whatever... God did it. Source: The Bible."
