I have a Sportster installed through my factory radio. It sounds like I'm listening to an AM radio compared to the stations on the FM stereo! I'd be addicted to it if it didn't sound so disappointing. If I got a satellite radio ready head unit, would that make a difference? HELP!

all you need to do is change the FM transmitter, I bet in your area you have a station that is on a frequency close to its setting, I had that when I first got mine.

I believe the default setting is 88.1, here we have a station that is 88.9, its to close, causes interference, I changed it to another setting, I think its like 90.7 or something.

like as cart2 said, change your frequency that your sportser is set on. Its in the menu. those units have a very strong FM modulator in them and work very well. What I would do is listen to the radio find the station in your area that has the most snow/static. Once you find that station I would recommend you preset in the radio for easier use. Then set your sportster to that frequency. If that fails to bring you results than you should bring the unit back to where you purchased it from for them to take a look at. If your not too sure on how to set the frequency of the sportster I have posted the link to the manual below. Just follow the directions its very easy.

You need to use something besides the fm modulator method. Do you have any aux inputs on your headunit? If so, connect it to those and it will sound drastically better. I have MyFi that is connected that way, and it sounds as good as any fm station in my area, if not better.

We have XM and it sounds great. My hubby put it in. We just plug it into the ciggy lighter and put in the tape conveter (we don't have a base for it yet) and it plays great.
