Are you religious types going to be so righteous now?

To enigmatic.
If it had happened only once, it would be different,. However, it seems a common theme among these people and the fact that it is often covered up, makes me wander what sort of sickos and perverts run these religions

I recently read an article that claimed the Baptists are doing the same thing.

What else do people expect from organizations that teach all humans are wicked & evil?

If that is the way they truly believe, then they have an excuse for their abberational behavior. And, they can forgive themselves since "the devil made them do it."

Bible based religions are based on hatred and contempt for humans, including the "believer" promoting the belief.

It's little wonder bible thumpers tend to commit the most outrageous crimes.

I didn't see anything in the article that gave any indication that the archdiocese or the bishop was aware of the abuse. Are we supposed to feel guilt for what happened in that home? Is it even sensible to ask someone what they think of the situation given that most folks who will respond live in the U.S. and not in Great Britain. We dare not throw stones at Great Britain when priests in the US are being investigated for the same or similar actions.

There is evil in every aspect of life. Even when we trust people to take care of children they can disappoint us and cause great mental and physical abuse. But to spread the guilt to include ALL CATHOLICS or all anything would be wrong.

If you must ask the question---make it for the simple reason that you want to inform, educate or change something. This article was not meant to inform or educate. It cannot be used to change anything. It can create lots of resentment toward the church even though the church was not responsible for the actions of a few men.

I hope you will allow us to live and learn.

First of all, the home was owned, but not ran ,by the church. I think the church should have been more active in a home which they owned, however. It is true that it seems a disproportionate amount of sexual abuse has been perpetrated by priests. I have many theories on this, but won't bore you with them here.

I was raised catholic. I never, not once, ran across anything but wonderful priests and sisters. Those of you saying terrible things about the church as a whole should not be prejudiced...but, I do understand how there would be anger at all of this.

Now that I said all that. I think the perpetrators of these hideous crimes..should be beaten to death with their own appendages.

This is an ongoing tragedy. I am not religious, but what I want to know is why it is only the Catholic priest pedophiles who are being exposed. I don't believe for one minute that abuse has not occured in the other religions.

Just goes to show that God is right, we are ALL born sinners, and only our faith and acceptance of Jesus can save us

remember, God loves the sinner, not the sin,

so if you are a homosexual doesn't mean God doesn't love YOU, he just doesn't love the sin of homosexuality...

and no, I do NOT think that homosexuality is normal or forgiveable, it is NOT natural

sex scandals in the church - in any church - are just another proof that we are all sinners,

of course its a disgrace for the catholic church which claims to have the only way to christ

the way to chirst is through love, compassion, forgiveness, grace in faith,

it is not necessary to have a worldy - "human" conduit - like the catholics proclaim - all you need is faith and love

God Bless you

According to some sources, Jesus Christ did not call for celibacy and did not even call for the whole catholic church system.

I do not think that sexual desires can be repressed for very long periods regardless of what religious people say.

OMG I'm Catholic and I'm ashamed and embarrassed. That's so sad and unjust. Its totally insane that it was allowed to be perpetrated for so long. My heart goes out to all the abused and the pedophiles who have destroyed them deserve punishment in this life and the next

Wow! How sad for those men to have gone through such a horrible ordeal at the hands of those who should have protected them. Hopefully this will help them cope and be able to move on to better things.

That ties into one of the reasons I have never been interested in the Catholic religion. I believe that God created us to be mated, not be forced to be single and celibate. It's not natural and all of these sex scandals prove it.
