This is not a slight towards atheists, but I am just curious as to why the questions (save the one from the_jim_darwin) regarding evolution are generally directed to atheists.
Are there no theists who believe that there is evidence to support the theory of evolution? (I know the answer to this question is "there is at least one" because I do.)
Does a belief in God mean that one cannot believe that evolution of (insert species here) has taken place?
And since when are "theories" somehow bad? I mean, I keep reading that "evolution is only a theory" and one response followed that statement with "hahahahahahaha". Aren't theories an important premise in science and many other fields of study?
(Apologies for the multiple questions.)

It doesn't make me mad, because it is a theory. What's so funny about that?

Atheists are not an authority on evolution. Why people post all those "questions" equating atheism to evolution is beyond my understanding. Presumably, the questioner is ignorant since atheism only means "lack of belief in 'God'" and nothing else.
I wonder when someone is going to post a question regarding atheists' opinions on nuclear physics or quantum mechanics?
It would be little different than the questions related to evolution.

I went to a Catholic University. I took a class called Religion and Science, taught by two priests. One was trained as a theologian and the other was a PhD biologist.
Much of the class was spent discussing how religions got in the way of scientific discovery. The biologist was a fervent believer in evolution and felt that it was consistent with a belief in God.
Even Pope John Paul II said "Evolution is much more than mere theory." Catholics have never had a problem with evolution. Catholics make up half the Christian population. Since many Protestants also have no problem with evolution, we can safely say that the majority of Christians have no problem with evolution.
It is only idiotic Christian Extremists who have a problem.

People seem not the realize that not all non-religious people are science minded or care that much about it, while some religious people I've known and heard of do feel that maybe their deity set evolution in motion. I'm glad there are at least some that are open minded to the concept, usually the ones I've known of though have interest in science and not just their religion stories.

Good questions and some Christians I know accept evolution.
But if that's so my question is this...
If you accept evolution I'm assuming you accept the progression of man from his early ancestors to his present state. By accepting that you do not accept the creation account of man being formed out of the dust and the woman being formed out of one of his ribs. If you don't accept the creation account how did mankind first sin? Did they evolve and were then put in the garden and told not to eat of a tree?
The point I'm trying to make is if you accept evolution you still have to make room for that whole original sin story or else there's no need for a Redeemer because mankind was not created perfect then later sin, he just evolved. If that's the case did he evolve to perfection and then sin?
Going down that avenue opens up allot of questions for me.

Exactly! Not only that, we apparently have all the other answers too.
Which is a great compliment, but sadly not always true.
The pretty (deluded) one thinks she has the greatest arguments, and keeps expecting an atheist to say "Aha! You have proven me wrong. I cannot come up with an answer to your (specious) question. Therefore I now believe in god!" She's a riot.

I am a fan of theistic evolution
I think that their is plenty of evidence that evolution happened but from what I have seen it is mathematically impossible that life could have developed randomly. That is why I conclude that their is a creator that has guided the process of evolution

evolution was denounced even by its creator Darwin and as for things evolving sure animals adapt but they don't evolve. there was a study done with some lizards some years ago they were moved from an island with shrubs and bushes to an island with lots of trees the lizards grew bigger feet to jump but they didn't sprout wings and start flying no evolution

I know plenty of people that believe in God and evolution, you're right - then again, it seems like people can, through varying degrees of strictness, interpret the bible to agree with just about anything they think ;)

Evolution doesn't say there's no god, just no christian god.
If you believe the bible, you believe genesis. And if you believe genesis, you have no idea about evolution.
