I am going to assu, thatyou are talking about a non-gaited horse, i.e. one that only has 4 speeds: Walk, Trot, Canter, gallop.
A walk is a 4 beat gait in which each hoof strikes the ground at different intervals.
The trot is a two beatgait in which the front left and the back right strike out at the same thime, then the front right and the back left strike out at the same time in a alternating pattern
The canter is a three beat rocking horse gait, in which the horse is entirelyoff the ground for a beat.
The gallop is a 4 beat gait in which each hoof stirkes the ground at different intervals
