So i recently died my hair dark brown, when i used to be a medium blonde, it came out almost black. Ive been washing my hair alot, trying to get it to fade, and it did some what. But i still dont like it. Do you think if i got a very white blonde that it will lighten up my hair enough to die it to a medium brown?.. insted of almost black?.. it sucks. what helps? i want to die it lighter, but dont have the money for the salon, i hate it dark i just want it to a light brown. Will light die work enough to die it the colour i want?. or will the black be still to strong and take over? HELPP.. i feel ugly and i dont feel confident whats so ever. Xo. thanks :( *

your best bet is to seek a professional.

i totally understand your problem. my hair is naturally jet black. after several unsuccessful attempts to go to a light brown i know i cannot achieve this without the help of a stylist.

you might need to get a lightening agent (aka 'booster') to be used with the hair dye. a stylist will know best

The best is to go to a salon, but at home you can do this:
1-get highlights, even if they are too obvious/light
2-get a light brown all-over color and do the whole head. This will cover up the highlights but start breaking up the darkness

Calm down. First of all, leave your hair alone. Second, since you don't have a lot of money, this might seem weird, but try a beauty school. When I was in beauty school, every one was good with corrective color. The instructor will supervise and it doesn't cost a lot. The more you keep trying to fix your hair, the more you are messing it up. Please don't touch it anymore. You need a professional to fix it. Since you already put the dark color in, the light color won't do a thing to it. Remember, color won't lift / fix color. Good Luck. Hope this helps.

You cant use color to make your hair lighter after you dye it darker. You would have to use bleach but it really damages your hair. But you could try this go to sally beauty supply buy a packet of bleach and 20 vol developer...Mix together until it looks like cake frosting mix with your fav shampoo..Apply to hair and let sit until it gets kinda orangy. Then recolor with a semi or demi permanent natural light brown color. That should give you a medium brown color. But i really recomend you save up and go to a pro it will minimize damage and you will get the results you want for sure.

If you color your hair often, it will loose the shine and its softness. There are do-it-yourself hair color from clairol or bellady or wella which are cheap and produces a nice effect on your hair. These are all American brands (I think!) so these will be available in your area. There are stores that sells only beauty products and the sales ladies will call themselves as beauty consultants, you may ask them what color will produce such color if applied on your dark colored hair.

Condition your hair much generously afterwards coz as i said, hair dye is not really good on the hair. Most salons in my place advises to color hair once in 3 months only.

Be easy on your hair.

if you try to lighten you hair with anything other than a bleaching kit it will turn red or worse, orange. you might want to wait till you have enough money for the salon. if you bleach right after you color, you will strip allot from your hair, and could end up with hair that acts like a bad rubber band. this has happened to me and i had to cut off 9 inches.

There's this one hair gel and hair spray that can make your hair lighter or darker or even change it into a different color for a while, I forgot the name of it but you can easily find it in any drugstore, just go to the section that has the hair products and I'm pretty sure you'll find it there.

don't dye it blonde.. it will come out orange! get a shade lighter than the one you want.. and work from there. Get a good brand though, because cheap brands will fade out and come out all wrong.

Go to a professional, you could really fry your hair since it doesn't seem like you have any experience in this category.
