See my previous 2 questions. To summarise and simplify the debate so far, if I were, for example, to predict that George W Bush would be assassinated, and it in fact turned out that he died from natural causes at the age of 98, a Sözean in the year 4006 might say the prophecy came true because President Jones used the nickname Bush, even when Jones himself died of natural causes. That is the kind of 'logic' being employed by the true believers here.

A prophesy must do 3 things-

1. Edify and bring confirmation for something that you were already feeling.

2. Comfort and bear witness in your heart.

3. Stay in line with the teachings of the bible.

If the prophet does not fulfill those 3 requirements, then I would question the validity of the prophesy.

There is a way to tell a false prophet from a true prophet. As was mentioned, "By their fruits you shall know them...." But the other more important key is found in James 1:5-6. Also, in your example you mention only one aspect of what a prophet is - that of predicting future events. There are other responsibilities of what it is to be a prophet.

A true prophet is one whose prophesies have proven true through time. A very good book about the times we are living in seen through time proven prophecy is "The False Prophet" by Ellis Skolfield which can be read online in a couple of hours at www.EllisSkolfield.com. It is a well researched and grounded study and debunks many of our mainstream theories re: interpretation of scripture. Read it and think.

Just because someone makes a correct "guess" as to how the future will turn out does not make them a prophet. After all, even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Well a true profit will be known in time. If he or she predicts something and it comes to pass then you will know. But then again everyone can get lucky from time to time . but if they have a good track record of being right then more then likely a real deal . but if they are wrong most of the time then just dismiss them as nobody.

Yes there is a way. When Jesus Comes back to this Earth he will come from the skies. The False prophet or Anti Christ will be of this world.

Well, one way to tell a false prophet is if they've ever been possessed by satan. For example, Islam admits that Muhammad was possessed by satan....which basically means that Islam is a satanic religion. Muslims behave exactly the way you would expect satanists to act....and always have.

All prophets are false but people seem to overlook the fallacy and go about the fairy tale.
