Colorado Springs is wonderful and has just about anything you want in a vacation. Sking, fishing, camping, music, art, military history. Within a two hour drive are hundreds of things to do. The Florrisant Fossil Beds are great for those who like that sort of thing. Up in Denver, 90 minutes away there also is tons to do.
The only two negatives I can think of are one: in the winter you might get caught in a blizzard if you go into the mountains unprepared. Two: if you from New England or the Ozarks dont expect to see all the fall colors that you see in those parts of the country.

yeah, in january i went to vail. we landed in denver, which was about 60° that day. We got up in the mountains, and within about 30 miles we were in a blizzard, about 25°. amazing when you're from south carolina and live at the beach. but yeah, the temps out there vary greatly in a very short distance. just depends where you're at.

Depends on where you're traveling; Denver is a lot milder, with a lot less snow, than the mountain resorts.

Depends...if you are talking about places like Aspen..its great...some of the best skiing. If you are talking about Denver, it is often fairly mild.
