Zen is overrated. It's a bunch of vapid nonrigor that passes among wannabe hipsters for profundity. "One hand clapping" is an absurdity. There's nothing deep about that. Clapping, by definition is a relationship between two hands (in this case, slamming together).

Clapping what? Against something, just sounds like clapping. If you just use the hand, is sounds like swoooshing. In a vacuum chamber, nothing.

Like a fast, higher pitched version of two hands clapping, some people can do it.

Bart Simpson anwered that one. Just keep your fingers together and slap your finger-tips to the lower palm of your hand as fast as you can. Open your ears while you do it, and you'll have your answer.
