Bush's strongest supporters want America to be a nation built on Christian values.

Luke:27"But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. 30Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Bush and his supporters, so proud to be born-again Christians, have perverted American values so far from what is taught in Gospel that I can't help wonder why it's so easy for the devout to be completely oblivious to the central teachings of their religion.

There's always a bible verse to cherry pick to advance one's cause.

Bush says he talks to God daily and that God talks to him, so apparently God tells him what to do.

By perverting American values far from what is taught in the Gospel I can only imagine you are referring to Bush's refusal to allow testing that will kill human embryos, the affirming of man-and-wife marriages, etc...

Jesus also said "when you hear of wars or rumors of wars do not be troubled for these things must happen..."
God sent people to war and had entire tribes wiped out in the Old Testament.
The Bible teaches that any person who is in command or is a ruler is there because God put them there. What many people fail to realize is... God is the creator and giver of all things, including life. He can give... and He can take away. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. We cannot understand an infinite God with finite brains.
Also... nobody ever said that Christians don't make mistakes. I'm not saying the war is or is not a mistake. That decision was between them and God.

See the First Amendment and the concept of separation of church and state. Most, if not all, organized religions denounce taking a life; why is Bush held to a different standard than, say Abe Lincoln -- as I recall from h.s. history, quite a few people died in the Civil War -- but nobody today would dare question that the North should have done what it did. Don't mix politics and religion -- look to the middle east for what happens as a result.

I wrote a nice long response, tearing you a new one.

I then decided you weren't worth it.

Two points.
