The same reason that historically Catholics and Protestants have killed each other. Absolute truth claims don't share the stage with competing ideas too well. Historically, Shias and Sunnis have treated the Jews better then Christianity.

It's my understanding that the shiite and sunni relationship is similar to the whites and blacks in 1950's America and their hatred of the Jews trumps any hatred between them.

Religions have been made to make us hate and fight each other's, and evil, powerfull person are working hard to make us fight...
(Color have always been an issue for egg, brown or white....But once craqued on a frying pan, they are all the same....Don't be an egg...)
