too much stress. Let him know there are more important things. Schedule a vacation for him. Plan something he would like yet you do most of the work preparing it. Note, going on vacation means he must do even more work leading up to it but if you schedule it far enough out it will give him something to look forward to... which might ease his stress.
Schedule some special nights out each week and do things he would enjoy, like going to a movie every Wednesday evening, etc. Giving him a nice routine of things to look forward to can help him.

You say he has a lot going on but don't give any further detail. Too bad because you would probably have gotten better answers.
If it is work then find something to take his mind off of it. If it family issues do some soul searching and research into help for the problem. If it is financial seek help from a professional.
Good luck.

All you can do is be there for him. This a lesson for him and you. Pamper him when he is home, but you don't need to talk a lot. He will figure out how to manage his time better. Don't allow him to be abusive to you in any way, all that does is set the trend.

Let him speak his mind. Be a sounding board. Be a genuine friend. Help him through it. Be there for him in everyway you can.
He will appreciate that because you hold these values very close to your heart.

Get his *** to the doctor. He won't go on his own so you'll need to give him a little push to make sure that he seeks the help that he needs.

ask him if there's anything you can do for him, and then it always cheers someone up when someone does something nice for them. cook him a good meal, or do some other everyday task for him, it doesn't seem like much to you but it'll be a big help to him
