I had the exact same problem. I wore ivory but it was so light that you could tell it wasn't white, but it also wasn't dark or yellow ivory, so matching was hard. With my flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow I was fortunate enough to find a huge frabic store I could rumage through to find the best match, then I accented it with my main color, sage....so with the sage on it you couldn't even tell it didn't perfectly match. Try your best to highlight your claret color and you shouldn't have any problems. Good luck! Oh and I wouldn't use white....it's just too different and much more stark than ivory or pearl, you might have a better chance camoflauging the colors with more of an ivory.

Having once worked with a wedding coordinator and decorator/designer, I was always advised when you have problems matching colors - for something like the flower girl's basket and ring bearer pillow - highlight the main color. The claret and white will look great in contrast. White and pearl can be difficult to match. But on the basket and pillow - it won't matter much.

I think you should try to match as closely as you can- but don't loose any sleep over it. The guests will be looking at you and your groom, not the ring bearer pillow or the flower girl's basket.
The reply from the wedding planner's assistant is right on.
You can coordinate with ribbons and bows if you want.
Claret is a striking color and you will be beautiful in your pearl gown.
Don't worry, it will be a wonderful wedding! :)

A white flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow would be fine. Another possibility is if you could find some material at a craft store that matches your dress and find someone to make the basket and pillow.
Good luck!

Use an antique white or trim the white basket and pillow in the claret color.

Spray paint a white basket to match your colors. Line it with pearl colored satin. This is not hard to do. Ask grannie or Aunt Sussie to help you.
As far as the pillow... Buy the material (pearl colored satin) and make the pilllow. Have a button covered in red material and attach a red robbon around it. You can find a pearl color lace ribbon to attach around the pillow. Have grannie or Aunt Sussie do it too as they are accomplished crafsters and seamstress.
Or go with the Ivory ones, no one will remember or see the difference.
Good luck

Find a color that balances with the claret. White is unoriginal. Its your wedding, don't worry what other people think.

colors can be tricky... maybe if you use the claret color for the baskets... but if not then white would work... those items usually dont come too close to your dress so it wont matter.
