They are poorly educated and raised in a society that places more value on material possession and appearance than on positive virtues. They can't control situations with their intellect, so instead they act as a child or animal would, and attempt to control their environment through physical intimidation.

I was gong to mention the rap music thing and someone already did but theres other reasons to. I have heard older people say that people are just not as cool as they you'sd to be and I think theres truth in that. This thug BS is so stupid its beyond belief, I'm a full grown man and have had to walk away from antagonizing situations from teenagers while just walking to the store.. I know what you mean by that stairing stuff, just ignore it. Paying attention to it won't solve the problem. Try focusing on the women in the mall instead of them. The courts have no pity with violent crime so don;t have a confontation ot try to make a point,
ITS NOT WORTH IT, beleive me I KNOW.

Because they are bored and don't know what else to do with themselves. I grew up in the city, no TV until I was 18, no car -- walked everywhere I wanted to go until I was old enough to take a bus. Grew up with very little, which makes you appreciate any little thing you get. They should get jobs -- and don't let them tell you there aren't any -- anyone who wants to work can find a job. It may not start out at $70k a year, but so many people can't find someone to cut the grass, clear snow, clean out a garage or cellar, etc.

Where in the world do you live where people eye you like that in a shopping centre? Are you sure you're not instigating those looks by staring at them first?
I live in LA, one of the most gang-infested places in the world (in certain areas), but I never stare back at anyone. Gang members have that about them: It's ingrained in their heads that anyone who looks at them for more than a second is "mad-dogging" them, so naturally they have to say something to the guy (or girl).
Of course, it helps that I live in Santa Monica, not one of the more dangerous areas. But if I do venture out into the dangerous areas, I just mind my own business and don't stare at anyone.

The reason we have this kind of behavior in young persons is that there is no respect for parents, law or society. There is no consequences for for beating someone, or killing or any other crime. Young persons go to court and get a slap on the wrist. Here im Manitoba we had a person get into a fight with another young man and I guess he lost, so he went home got a baseball bat and came back and hit the young man in the back of the head and killed him. HIS PENALTY--four months in jail time served.

I think you are crazy, maybe it's all of that "trying to stay positive" stuff you say you do, that's how people go crazy, they push away their true emotions and bury them in a glossy coat of phony sunshine and lolipops rather than dealing with and coming to a resolution with them. You question just sounds way crazy. You're out shopping and thinking the men's eyes are "boring" into yours and "staring" at you evily, and that you would be hurt if you didn't look into them? That sounds psychotic.

ummm... it sounds like you are taking the wrong way perhaps. Don't take this the wrong way but I don't know why anyone would turn that situation into a confrontational one (unless racism or some other inborn factor).
You are probably just overreacting and focusing on one negative outcome.
when you get those thoughts, just think "they dont know me, they have no reason to think bad things about me"
some people just have mean "looks" when really they are harmless.

Oh no it's not just rap. Have you heard some of these rock bands recently? I love both types of music but you can not blame one and not the other.
Why do people want to blame rap music for everything? It's such a cop out. There's alot of great answers to this question but the ones who want to blame rap makes NO sense. I listen to rap as well as rock and I hear just as much anger and hostility in some rock songs as I do in some rap songs. Hellooo Disturbed, Slipknot, Slayer? Sometimes people are a**holes just to be a**holes.

Unfortunately today both parents have to work and kids are basically raising themselves...they find a home within the gang member community..it's a very sad situation.

Don't get sucked into that, you sound like a happy peppy person, and that's a good thing. If you start thinking like that then you are just as bad as them, just remember always know your surrounding's and watch your back even if you ain't getting SIZE UP OR DOWN,
Don't worry be happy lol :-)
