I would say it's a war but who am I? I suspect the actual endgame will not be recognized until we are well into it.

While there have been and will be wars and rumors of wars in the last days, I would catagorize the current situation in Lebanon as neither war nor rumor of war...yet. However when/if it does finally turn into a full scale war, it will be a war. Rumors of wars was included because until fairly recently, we couldn't see a war unless we were a soldier in it. Travelers would come through town and basically say, Hey, did you hear? So and so and these other guys are fighting. It's gotten really bad, etc etc. So it was hearsay ie rumor. Now we can see, via tv, internet, etc that the war between (at least) two groups is actually going on.

The Bible reference is Luke 21:9 and Matthew 24:6, when the apostles asked Jesus what the sign of his presence would be and he listed one of them being that they would hear of wars and reports (rumors) of wars. So my answer would be that 1. different Bibles translate that word differently, in the New World Translation it is "reports" not "rumors." 2. yes it is a real war, and it is being reported.

It can't be a rumor of war since things are getting blowed up real good (SNL reference), they're breaking things, and people are shooting each other. So yea, it's just a war. Nothing to worry about. The second coming isn't happening any time soon.
But..........

It is a war. There are rumors of wars. The mid-east crisis is going to spread I am sure. It is going to affect a lot of people. Hasn't anyone read the news reports about the Arabic people demonstrating and marching.

when hasn't there been wars and rumors of wars? you don't need to be a messiah to make a "prophecy" that obvious.
may as well predict ... the earth will rotate causing the appearance that the sun rises above the horizon.
most "prophesies" are so vague or generalized that one can read just about anything one wants into them. this "war and rumors of war" prophecy is especially lame.

This war was foretold in the scriptures. The Jews from around the world are going back to Israel in masses to aid Israel in the fight. This war will not end until the middle east and Israel are destroyed. But then Israel will be raised to one of the strongest countries in the world.

No this would be a war... "There will be wars and RUMORS of wars" A rumor of war would be like "yeah the Russians are gonna attack any day now" and it doesnt happen.

since people are dying and cites are being bombed, it is a war....
a rumor of war would be the possiblity of iran and syria officially getting into the fight..... which has not happened yet..
