I've gotten along well with both male and female co-workers. However, I have noticed some differences in the personalities of both. As a general rule, I found males easier to communicate with. They also seemed to have a lot of respect for me as a female. In fact, I had one male boss who consulted me whenever he had a special project, as he valued my opinion. There were lots of nice ladies I worked with also, but in the work environment, I think there are a lot of them -- particularly the ones in higher positions -- that feel threatened by good female workers. There is a lot of competition and bitchiness among women in the work scene. I never had problems with any of my co-workers, but that's not saying I liked all of them. However, I was raised to do unto others, etc., etc.
In your situation, it sounds as though you're somewhat outnumbered by the ratio of females to males. And then there's all this business about harassment. A man can make an innocent remark, and some woman is going to go all ballistic because she thinks he's coming on to her. I understand this mind-set. My advice to you is be professional at all times, and keep doing what you're doing -- limit your work-hours conversations to work-related topics. I know it isn't as much fun as being able to be yourself, but in today's society one can't be too careful. After you've left the work scene for the day, then you can be your own friendly self. After all, there is more to life than work, and I'm sure you have a lot of congenial friends outside of the work situation. Good luck to you!

I quit my job because one women just irritated me. I just do not need it. I liked and got along with the other 13 employees. I am a women too. This women is the same way anything anyone else says or does is wrong. Subject for a comment or to. Or whining to the manager. She does think she is perfect. It's always "I always do that." When in reality she makes the most mistakes of all.
Well, I got on a little rampage. Thanks for listening.

Aw...sorry you're having problems with your co-workers. I get along with all of my co-workers except one. There are three that I don't like, but I don't show it. While I work, I put everything aside and try to remain professional. I know this may sound really dorky, but you should try talking to them. If the one co-worker that I have that I don't like came to me and wanted to discuss our differences and try to resolve them, I would just let it go and things would be okay between us.

I get along with almost all my colleagues regardless the gender. A relationship depends on personality not the sex.
