I was in line at the bank yesterday, behind a woman and her little boy. He looked about 6 years old. There were about 500 thousand people in line and only two tellers, so I watched this mother-child interaction for awhile.

Every time the kid so much as MOVED, the mom was all over him! One time, the kid just barely touched the little rope thingy and mom said, "...hands off!! and looked at the kid like she was going to kill him or something.

I just want to remind parents that children need a parent, not a warden or a dictator. I've heard of parents who slap their childrens' hands dozens of times a day!! I mean, come on!!! No wonder kids can turn into such screwed up adults.

For the "on your kids case 24 hours a day" parents, or anything close to that, I just want to remind you that what children need is the assurance that they're loved, that they're safe and that they can mess up sometimes. They will love you for it in return. And yes, I'm a parent.

lol. Your seriously wrong on this one. "Military parents" aren't to blame for the horrible little ignorant bastards out their. It's the ******* that think they don't need serious punishment. The little kid had probably been doing some serious crap that was wrong before. She learned that he needs to be kept and checked early on so that they don't get out of control. I'v watched several parent and children interactions and I'm very observant. Those that let them do what ever they want pretty much and think that all they need to do is love them and they won't become little monsters are always the little demons and cry or yell when they don't get their way. I was taught at a young age what was appropriate and how your supposed to act and now as a teenager I just don't have the urge to do wrong or really disobey my parents they don't care anymore because they know me and have truely taught me correctly. Another thing don't ever, and I mean ever relate military parents with a negative thing becuase we don't need people like that in America.

Civlian parents act that way too. Maybe said child was acting up really bad before that and mom was really frustrated. Unless you see real signs of abuse, I wouldn't worry about it. I have really hyper twins, things escalate pretty quickly if they aren't nipped in the beginning. It's a fine line, to much and it's worse than if you had done nothing at all.

if you want to make your kids happier leave them alone, give them a laptop, t.v, and Ipod and tons of money...then they will love you!
