I don't think the local police are trained to handle fraud and scams. I mean that they will arrest who may being doing the scams, but then they have to turn it over to the FBI. Anything involving a persons idenity is a FBI manner, not the local state or city police.

Many times the scammer is in another city or country making it difficult to make a positive identification or an eventual prosecution. However, it does happen. Contact your local police and they will determine if the crime occured in their jurisdiction. If so, they will investigate it. If not, they will forward it to the appropriate agency.

By the way, Terabeara, identity theft is not automatically an FBI case. Do you just guess at your answers?
