My favorite topic...
Of the seventy, only sixteen are significant. Every seventh, plus every tenth generation. The rest are placeholders, in a schematic.
Also, Cains descendants, to the seventh generation.
All sixteen are married to very close relatives.
You can chart them, and use them as a great memory tool. That was how the 'tree' was designed. Not with chapter and verse, which works best with written history. The begets and begats are the trunk of the family tree. It's difficult to trace through the many historical books of the bible, but you can read it all engraved on the back of a coin, dated 4,000 BC. I continue to marvel at the prophetic genius of both the maker of the coin, and the family tree of Jesus. How could they have known that pattern, way back then? Miraculous! And such detail too.
The last several generations are a little confusing. But regardless of whether you trace Jesus's royal line through Mary or Joseph, the pattern holds true. Simply marvelous! Predestination at it's best!
If I sound a little cynical, it' because I did take the time to chart all of the begets and begats. All of the numbers jive. If you haven't done this, you really don't know how far off base everyone is about Bible chronology, prophecy, and even credibility.
