I want to start beating people up, but apparently Taekwondo is just for self-defense, no offense. :(

Beat up enough people, and one of them will come back with his buddies and beat you up. If you survive that you can go back with even more guys and beat them all up.

You can keep going back and forth until someone smart gets a knife. Then everyone can get knives, and bats, and bricks. Then someone even smarter will get a gun. Then everyone can have a gun for himself. Herself, too -- would not want to make any sexist assumptions.

What fun!

Why bother taking a martial art? Why not get a gun right away and blow your own head off? Then you don't have to spend years of your time cultivating your body and spirit to the point where the idea of beating people up becomes downright silly.

Seriously, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is to find a good martial arts instructor -- a teacher of taekwondo or anything else -- who can help you grow up and out of your present headspace.

All the best. I mean it.

Traditional Asian martial arts are for the most part, simply unrealistic. What works are the mixed martial arts. Ever see the cage fighters on tv, like the UFC? Well if so, thats the stuff.

And no, you don’t need to be huge and a guy to do it well. This is the stuff taught to special forces soldiers and are basic hand to hand combat techniques all marines need to learn.

A combination of Boxing, Thai boxing, Amateur wrestling take downs, judo, jujitsu. All these work great but the idea is to learn how to fight on your feet and on the ground. (I think its 90% of fights that end up on the ground)

So good luck and have fun with it.

I think Kung Fu is the best because you get to use the most weapons. YOu should take a martial art to beat people up. Self-defense is like offense because you learn how to defend yourself as in hurting the people that hurt you.

If you are asking for a practical martial arts, then you are looking for a non sports arts that concentrates on actual fighting. Most arts are sports oriented and have specific rules not allowing you to hit the vital areas. Check on Jeet Kune Do, created by Bruce Lee. It concentrates primarily on actual defense and street situation. You will learn to hit the vital areas which is foul in most sports martial arts but very practical for actual scenario.

Bruce Lee originally studied Wing Chun, and I think it is a good one for starters. If you are reasonably bright, you can learn the moves in a year of diligent practice. It is a very efficient style that equalizes you with someone who has physical advantages, e.g. size, strength and speed. It was invented by a woman named Ng Mui. She could beat men with it. I've added some of my own improvements to it, and I've studied many styles of China, Japan, Korea and Tibet. Don't kid yourslf or let anyone kid you. Tae Kwan Do is for offense and defense. Bruce Lee said that all styles, except his Jeet Kun Do, were more for defense. Was he objective? I do not think so. My own eclectic style is Wu Da Wu shu. Wu Shu means Martial Arts in Chinese. Kung Fu means literally Work Master and enotes working hard and mastering some skill.AnEmperor's chef achieved Kung Fu in cooking.

The point of martial arts is not to beat people up. I took Tae Kwon Do and its pretty cool. Self-defense doesnt mean you can't hurt the person attacking you ;)

frontkicks, backkicks, axkicks, flying scissors kicks, sidekicks, crescent kicks, spinning kicks, punches, and elbow techniques in Taekwondo are self-defense techniques? Wow, I didn't know that. A hit in the face with any of those kicks sure leave a mark but hey, it's just self-defense. And a kid(looking for fights)like you do not deserve to learn these techniques anyway.

One martial is not better than the other. It all depends on the individual and the teacher. When searching for a martial arts school do your research. Do not fall prey to propaganda or flashy demos.

You are just asking this to get a reaction you have no real interest in martial arts.

Go onto the trivia and ask another stupid question maybe on there people will try and answer because they think they will win somthing
