If you are just starting out, tru using something that you aren't going to have to interpret if you have a strike, such as a topwater lure, crank bait or spinner bait. If you switch to plastics, such as worms and tubes, you need to be aware of what a bass strike feels like. Most times, you will feel a slight "tick", which is the bass sucking the bait into it's mouth. This takes lots of practice to determine a bass strike from bumping into structure. Of course, it doesn't cost anything to set! Good luck, and keep fishing.

My father and I are avid bass fisherpeople!! The best all around lure we use is a tube bait. They work in clear and murky water, just change colors, and the work in any body of water, lake stream or river. Check out Bass Pro online or your local Walmart. They are inexpensive and come in a variety of sizes and colors. Good Luck and Happy Fishing!!!!

the buzz baits early in the morn, or in the eve. its a top water lure and i still cant figure out if it makes them mad or they think its food but, if you fish on the shore, cast to the left or right about three or four feet from the shore line(as far as you can get it) and bring them in. you are going to want to buy black and or white, and have it weigh from 1/2 to1 oz. anything less is for ultra light fishing and that is hard on a beginner. happy fishing.

a three or 4" Stick-O from BPS is the only entice i've got caught better than a largemouth and a smallmouth with jointly. i've got caught loads of Largemouth with it, or maybe a pair (2 or 3) smallmouth. sturdy entice. happy fishing.
