"Valentine's Day was actually made up by Hallmark only a few years ago"
HAHA considering its been around my whole life.
St. Valatine Days is a St. Valatine. During the Med-Eval times the king granted people that were mareid and soliders to serve 5 years and men that were single 15, and the king made marraige illegal for people under 25. So St.Valatine did marraiges secertly and the king found out and had his heart cut out....its on History Channel every year ...you can guess what day..

Well Christians are the ones that wanted Christmas to be a federal holiday. In all honesty I don't celebrate it. I buy my christian friends gifts as a show of respect for them and their beliefs but I still go to work so one has to be there when people show up to the ER... besides its holiday pay.
Valentines Day is a holiday that was made famous by the greeting card companies and most guy probably only celebrate it so their girlfriends won't get mad at them. Also technically only Catholics not Christians should celebrate Valentines Day.
And last all the Christian holidays are just twist on pagan festivals so even Christians probably shouldn't celebrate them.

Valentine's Day was actually made up by Hallmark only a few years ago. Christmas is an ancient pagan holiday. I think it's wonderful that, at least in most of America, that we can all bond over the Commercial versions of all these religious holidays, no matter if we believe in all their origins or not. Celebration is never a bad thing!

Popular culture consistently tries to "steal" holy days and make them secular holidays.
This happens with Christmas, Easter, Mardi Gras (the day before Lent starts), Halloween (the eve of All Saints Day), St. Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's day.
Popular culture lets you celebrate the holidays as long as they take all religion out of them.
When was the last time you heard a religious Christmas carol in a shopping mall?
It is an ongoing effort to keep God and faith involved in these holy days.
With love in Christ.

Let's see. Easter has always been a celebration of Spring and renewal in many cultures, even before Jesus. Saturnalia was the traditional celebration held during Roman times which Christianity borrowed and now call Christmas.
This type of borrowing is common in cults to create a sense of truthfulness and continuity to itself. Even the notion that Jesus was the son of God was borrowed from other religions. Notably Egyptian and Roman mythology where both the pharaoh and ceasar were said to be descendants of divine beings.

No we don't have a good time Christmas with the aid of fact it has that's origins in paganism. If she is seeking a tip, that's purely that. a recent for the interest she has finished. once I delivered papers, the single time adult men and girls folk tipped exchange into as quickly as on the end of the 300 and sixty 5 days. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, that does no longer make the tip a Christmas recent. For each and each of different posters who stated concerns like she's a hypocrite, shame on you! you have now no longer learn the letter, yet you condemn her as in spite of in case you in all likelihood did! you do no longer understand the information, in spite of the incontrovertible fact which you're powerfuble to hold her and in all likelihood ask questions later. what's particularly disgusting is, people who declare to be Christians, are actual integrated in that corporation. After analyzing 'the letter', i will easiest say, a actual, mature Witness ought to in no way have written "passable desires for a snug new 300 and sixty 5 days". And to incorporate a sas envelope is cheesy to the severe. Now that I recognize between the information, i will humbly make an apology for any incorrect statements I made.

My husband and I do not celebrate the Christian Christmas or Easter. We do not celebrate Jewish religious holidays. We do not celebrate Islamic religious holidays. This is because we do not practice these religions. Our employers require us to take off for these Christian religious holidays, but if this weren't so we would both work.
We have four major and four minor religious holidays a year. We take our vacation time during our religious holidays. I wish all religious people had to do the same (equal treatment).

Christmas is more an American holiday than a Christian holiday. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus, Americans celebrate giving and Santa!

Christmas is now a secular holiday as is Valentine's day. Sure they may have religious roots, but that means nothing today.
Personally I don't celebrate any holidays, religious or otherwise.
I don't let god run my life; why should hallmark?

Un Christian people should celebrate the so called Christian holidays since in truth there is nothing Christian about them. They are all Pagan related.
