This is an excerpt from the Army Chaplain's hand book and gives a very basic description of what the US government feels Wiccans believe:

This is a good (although long) article on the history of Wicca:

For a short bio on the founder of Wicca:

Hi,
Wiccans are witches, thus into withcraft. Their symbol of faith is the pentagram - same symbol used by satanists. Wikipedia is thus not recommendable. There are too many other more trustworthy and safe online encyclopaedias and informative sites to choose from. Thus: when you send in an answer and you are given a few options, rather try the other options and not Wikipedia. It's always good to ask. Well done. Hope this helps. All the best. God loves you, ok.

Idaho mike and vice & virtue = narrowminded fundies
Wikipedia is a good place to start but not all Wiccans believe the exact same thing so it's hard to generalize. Check out the "new age" section of the book store or the "metaphysical" section there are some good books there but there are also some pretty twisted ones too.

look up the wiccan reede. This is a pretty good general basis for wiccan belief but wicca is widely varied with different traditions that all hold slightly different beliefs but all are supposed to subscribe to the ideas in the reede

What impels people to practice modern witchcraft? They claim that one factor is a reverence for nature and life. Some, in fact, are eager to explain that their worship does not include the sacrificing of animals in their rituals. Others say that they dabble in witchcraft as part of a search for people with whom they can share openness, trust, and common spiritual interests. “Everyone I know in the pagan movement is so friendly and open . . . They’re wonderful people,” says a modern witch. And many deny any involvement with Satan, asserting that there is no all-evil deity in their religious structure.
For many of them, the primary reason for becoming witches is a sense of spiritual emptiness and a disenchantment with mainstream religions. Speaking of her coven, Phyllis Curott, a Wiccan high priestess, says: “All of us were dissatisfied with the teachings and practices of the religions with which we had been raised.” Modern witches, Curott explains, try to answer questions such as, ‘How can we rediscover the sacred?’

They believe similiar to the Shakers and the Amish in that making furniture is a gateway to the divine. Because they associate the divine with nature, their furniture reflects this. It's why we can enjoy the fine Wicca chairs they construct.
