I asked some Christians to clarify to me the Holy Trinity.
They gave some examples.
(1) Mind,Body,Spirit.
Ok, What is mind and what is spirit? What's the difference between them. i asked them individually. they were confused and gave conntradictory superflous answers. Ok, so God The Father is mind??
What do you mean by that? Jesus is just flesh or body--so he was like a corpse??? If you differenciate these three aspects--it impies that Jesus was exclusively flesh. ridiculous.
(2)Three states of water. Solid,Liquid and Gas. But One glass of water cannot be simultanously in all three forms. So, God cannot be simultanously in three states according to this example--he must be in triple point of water and that is not the normal state of water.
So, does God always exist in some abnormal state???

Most Christians refer to the Holy Trinity as God the Father, God the Son, and God The Holy Ghost. These are One. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, The Word was God, The Word became flesh (Jesus). Flesh can only be at one place at a time, but God's spirit can be everywhere. In order to understand spiritual concepts you must be a spiritual person. You can not relate the two with each other.

It's a spiritual paradox, and it's not clearly explained in scripture. It is a concept culled by the fact that all three entities (God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit) are identified as God without distinction in scripture.

As for Mind, Body, Spirit, they aren't trying to tell you that one is the mind, and one is the body, etc. You're just being facetious. You don't seek an answer, you seek strife, so why ask? But to clarify, The body is what it is, the mind (or soul) is the thoughts/personality/intellect, the spirit is that part of us that interfaces with God, which is dead in our natural state, but born to new life upon saving belief in Jesus Christ.

The three states of water? Always hated that illustration. The point is though, that no matter which of the three forms you see it in, it's still water. Again, you're being facetious. I hope these people weren't your friends, because I'd hate to think you'd treat your friends so shabbily.

Have a nice day.

Great question, to answer this we would have too look at the holy scriptures and see what God word tells us.
To begin the word Trinity does not appear in the bible once.In fact early Christians did not think of god as a trinity until about 400 years after Jesus was resurrected.See when the roman emperor Constantine adopted Christianity
as the national religion he added pagan beliefs too it. I.E. (trinity) Now here's what the bible teaches. Jehovah the father is the only true God(john 17:3 ,,,mark 12:29) Jesus is his firstborn Son,and he is subject to God.(1Cor 11:3). The father is greater than the Son.(John 14:28) .
The holy spirit is not a person; it is Gods active force.(Gen: 1:2,,Acts 2:18..

Listen to me.... I will get a lot opf flack for this.

You have a mind - makes you think - makes you decide things - makes you choose. Makes you to be able to make concious decisions.

You have a body - this allows your mind to accomplish physical things. what good is having a mind if you can't do anything physical.

You have a soul - (technically everybody does) - this is the "unknown - unseen - but felt" think of it as your connection to the great beyond. Do ever imagine where you come up with brilliant ideas you wouldn't have thought up yourself? Well, that's what it is. Also it is part of the Perfect "SINGLE" God that everyone talks about. It is this part that goes to heaven (or that great white light) when you die.

God is all of these Mind(the father), Body(the Son), and Soul(the holy Ghost). The Trinity.

You have all this - and you are his son. Made in his own image.

Which makes you "of" God. A part of God.

You are a part of God - and to think of it any less than that is tantamount to turning your back on him.

God is all three parts at once. And you are part of that too.

God is not a single entity but the lives, loves and hopes of everyone who has ever lived and died. Can you see now?

Actually, it's a concept that cannot be explained adequately with the way we percieve the world. The closest physical representation of the concept that can be found is three candle flames. The three flames can take up the same space at the same time, as well as exist as three seperate flames.

#2 is modalism, which is considered a heresy by the Christian orthodoxy.

One thing many creation stories from various mythologies have in common is that in the beginning, all was one, or there was only God. Then, everything was seperated -- the heavens and the earth, night and day, light and dark, etc.

In our minds, everything is seperate - you and me, above and below, etc. However, in reality, all is one.

Honey, don't let novice Christians try to explain something that they don't understand themselves. You need a solid, plausible explanation from one who is well-versed. I don't claim to be that expert but may I give you an answer that I believe to be true? The Bible confuses alot of people due to its metaphorical explanation that too many take literally. The Holy Trinity is a heavenly entity that combines the three parts of God (The Father: God, The Son: Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit: that lives on through true Christians when accepted by them).

I think you were answered by a oneness penticostal they have some messed up theology.

The trinity is 3 seperate persons of God, all of equal power, but Jesus and the Holy Spirit exist for different purposes.
Jesus as the redeemer of humanity.
The Holy Spirit as the comforter and guide in truth to those who beleive and are saved.

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with Me from the beginning." (John 15:26-27)

Far to many otherwise good Christians get all uptight when discussing The Trinity.... It is not that complicated.... God The Father, Jesus The Christ (The Son), and The Holy Spirit. All are the three ways God works with mankind. God Is God and God can do,be, anything He wants to be. That is how he chooses to work with man.

If one reads deeply enough into the Bible, you will find it states "God is in spirit".. People are consistantly trying to equate God in the physical form and for that reason are continually misled in their understanding. His only begotten son is a priest forever and has no geneology, is the Prince of Peace. There is also another figure that has constantly been overlooked... the King of Peace. Also a priest forever, without geneology. One other entry has done well, with the description of the Holy Ghost or Spirit.

Whole books have been written on this subject. It's something the bible implies but doesn't really flesh out for us so we don't really have perfect words to explain it. Analogies are about the best one can do, but even those are all flawed. This isn't really a problem though, it just tells us more about what God is really like than if we could explain it.

Unlike most other gods which have idols and pictures and statues made of them, God goes out of His way to show how infinate and unknowable He is. He can't be put in some box and studied. Many cults and heretical sects err in this area. Once you think you know what God is, you automatically limit him and feel like you can manipulate him (like pagans did with their idols). But God transends all of that.

Imagine that instead of a 3d world we lived in a 2 dimensional world. How would you describe something in 3D? You could try, but you wouldn't have the vocabulary to express what a cylinder is or a sphere. Similarly, we don't have the vocab to describe God.

Hope that helps. Contact me if you'd like to talk about it some more.
