I have a male cat who is about 2 years old, has been neutered, and has FLV. He never meows, before today I could actually count on 2 hands how many times I've heard him meow.
This morning when I woke up he was meowing a whole lot, and he was walking around with his butt near the ground like he was trying to go to the bathroom. I put him in the litterbox, and he went, but while I was home at lunch he went into the litterbox, and I'm not sure if he went or not, but he came out and started to meow like he was in pain.
I've got a call into the vet, but I though I'd hop on here and see if anyone know what's going on with him, and if there is anything I can do for him in the meantime.
Could this be something to do with the FLV?
Any ideas?

you know your cat better than anyone else does. Feline leukemia is going to keep his immune system very low, so he will be susceptible to anything that comes along. He could just have a bladder infection which is very common in cats and the symptoms are very similar to what you describe. Your best bet is the vet. Please post what he says, as I'd like to know what it was and how your kitty is doing.

Male cats can get blocked and they cannot pee. This is very serious and if this is the case you need to take him to the vet right away. They can die from this. I had a male cat that had this problem and he would meow like crazy when he was blocked, because it is very painful...their bladder fills up with urine and they can't get it out. The bladder can burst, or the toxic buildup in the bladder can kill him.

Try and discover out whether or not ir's a stray or owned via a neighbor. If it is owned via a neighbor, allow them to recognise. If it is a stray, touch the neighborhood animal safe haven! We bought considered one of our cats due to the fact she stored coming round, we knew who she belonged to and heard the youngsters pulled her round, so did not give up her coming in, and finally they moved away with out her and and not using a phrase to us so I do not consider they cared. Now we have now 2 cats although, and a random cat coming in would be wearing worms or sicknesses if it hasn't had their pictures, and undoubtedly we are procuring the cat meals now.

He can be blocked or obstipated. If he's blocked then he can't urinate. If he's obstipated then he has feces stuck in his colon and he'll need assistance from the vet to get it out. This is very different from constipation because if he was constipated he would pass balls of hard poop.
This has happened to my cat 2 days ago. I'm not sure if it's related to the leukemia but it can also be because of his hair when he grooms himself. This can also happen if he has mega colon which to correct he'll need surgery. I would talk to the vet.

Take him to the doctor ASAP!!!
If his urethra is blocked and he can't pee, the poison will back up into his kidneys and kill him (no joke, this almost happened to one of my male cats). It might also be a urinary tract infection, but that needs to be treated ASAP also. If it is intestinal, it is still very dangerous...one of my cats almost died also because she was so constipated and her intestines were completely backed up. The vet literally saved her life!!

I repeat...DO NOT WAIT...TAKE HIM TO THE VET NOW!!!

Sounds like worms. They have an over the counter med. you can get at any pet store. It's a liquid, and you mix it in their food. It should clear it up. I know this may sound gross, but check his poop in the litter box. If you see little white worms, than that's the problem. That's what makes them drag their butts.

He could be constipated, or has eaten something that will not pass. I would definitely check with the vet!
