We are potty training our two year old daughter but she doesn't want to use the potty. She has used it one time but it took a lot of convincing and she hasn't used it since. Recently she has starting taking her diaper off in the middle of the night and wetting the bed and pooping and wiping it all over her toys. I've been getting up earlier each day that way I can catch her before she wakes up and takes it off but by the time I get to her room she has already made a huge mess! Also during the day my back can be turned for just one minute and she'll have her diaper off and she has already pooped or peed on something! Is there any way I can get her to keep her diaper on or to get her to use the potty?

Try pull ups
Put a pant after the diaper
Put a calendar with stickers behind the bathroom door and tell her that every time she use the potty she will get one sticker. Try with a candy. My daughter learn that way. I told her if she use the potty she will get a candy but if she does not use the potty she'll never eat a candy. And work for me. Good luck!!

Well as you can tell this is a common problem and you are not alone! I think we should all take pictures and torture them with their hijinks when they are teens!

Seriously I can think of only one idea. Inform her that if she doesn't want the diaper on she better use the potty! If she doesn't want to use the potty she better keep that diaper on. Frankly I would make a decision either way and then stick with it. You are her mother and know if she's ready or not. Two is the worst time to potty train (now someone tells you!) It's like we hand a naturally defiant child some new idea on how to torture us! I was able to train my fourth at two but that was because his terrible twos started really late (30 months). All the others waited until they were three. Here are some of my ideas on the mess. If she is spreading poop on those toys they are going to have to be sterilized. That means they get washed and then thrown in the tub with a little bleach for 10 minutes and then allowed to air dry. I think I would probably take the toys away for the "sterilization" process for several hours. The time Mommy spends sterilizing and cleaning also sadly enough takes away from book time and playing outside time too. This is a natural consequence. If you have time to play after chores then do so but not too much because Mommy and Daddy are tired from all the extra work.

I know that many people will say that this sounds over manipulative but turnabout is fair play! The little darling is manipulating you but its just a natural learning process not something evil inside of her! Poop play can be addictive from what I've heard so please give her some paint and playdough options too.

Make sure to put away any non-cleanable toys until the behavior stops and invest in plastic pillow and mattress covers. If you're a clean freak this will be a challenge for you and you will need a regular break during the day.

2 y.o. are at or close to the point where they can figure out how to take them off, but put some kind of relatively tight shorts on. Ours does the same (21 mos.) and it's always a mess. Sometimes I'm too lazy to find shorts before she goes to bed and boy do I pay the price later.

In any case, keep 'em in shorts over the diaper until she's all the way trained.

As others have suggested, you could try pull-ups as well, though they don't absorb so well. Harder to get off in any case.

Oh dear, I think a lot of kids go through that. I'd take it as a sign she's ready for potty training so really encourage that. At night try to dress her in pajamas that are hard to get out of to prevent her making huge messes.

When she puts the poop on her toys are anywhere it doesn't belong tell her that's yucky and poop belongs in the potty. Getting upset about it doesn't help anything. Good luck.

Put some shorts or pants on her that should slow her down. Also, you might want to try underwear or pull-ups. She evidently doesn't like the feel in her diaper and is ready for potty training. Reward her for trying to use the potty everytime. You have to be consistent, Also, she's old enough for timeouts when she does go somewhere she shouldn't.

You can either teach your daughter to like the diaper and the potty or you can teach her to dislike taking off the diaper and 'going' in inappropriate places.
I believe the former would be preferable. Get her to behave once and make such a huge deal out of it. Streamers, candles, songs, parades, ANYTHING to let her know she did something good. The more outlandish and stimulating the more likely she will repeat the behaviour.

My 2 year old had sorta the same problem...he didn't want to poop in the potty...he was fine with peeing though...i made him feel a little guilty when he pooped especially if I had already tried to get him to go. i told him big boys didn't do that...and i made him help clean it up...didn't take too long now he wants to poop in the potty like a big boy even when he doesn't have to go! BUT - now that he is potty trained, he REFUSES to sleep in clothing, underwear, etc...he can go to bed fully clothed and when i go in there to get him up for school he is COMPLETELY nude...he would rather be nude all the time...my toddler is a nudist on the next jerry springer!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried pull ups or maybe those plastic panties? I would show her that potty training is fun and that only big girls get to sit on the potty and little babies go potty in the bed.
Other than that I don't know what to tell you. I do wish you good luck :)

usually taking off diapers are a sign that they are ready to be potty trained but in your case you should make her help clean it up and tell her that she is too big for this. and try using pull ups. also buy her pretty underwears that she likes and tell her that she can wear them if she uses the potty.

Well if she continues to do this I would suggest you try clothing she has a hard time getting out of. If that dont work its time to spank her. Especially for things like wiping on her toys. If she keeps up with refusing to use the potty then make her sit in a dirty pamper for a while, She will change her mind
