You can actually keep it. Think about it: that jar of mayo has already been out for god knows how long. Is opening it going to ruin it in a day?

Store-bought mayo has a lot of preservatives in it, that's why it can be at room temperature when fresh mayo with raw egg goes back within days, even when refridgerated.

It's inexpensive, so tossing it won't be the end of the world. Learn how to make mayo in the blender/food processor instead and you'll never go back to store-bought!

You can probably tell if it's gone bad by the smell. Things don't go bad too fast unless the temperature is pretty warm. It also makes a difference in the ingredients: is it "real" mayonnaise with eggs in the ingredients? And does the label say it has preservatives? If it has eggs in it, you should probably toss it. If not, it may be ok.

Nothing has happened to the contents as long the jar was closed, mayo is eggs and oil, the oil is a really good preservative. 24 or 48 hrs won't damage much... more than that u better get rid of it... and educate that boyfriend of yours

I would toss it, why take the chance of getting sick. Just go buy a new jar. Better safe than puking.

It would probably be prudent to toss it as bacteria most certainly has had an opportunity to grow in it and its not worth the risk to get a stomach ache.

Toss it.
Always adhere to the old saying, "When in doubt, throw it out."
And yell at your boyfriend for being a moron and make him buy you another jar of mayo! LOL
:)

most dairy proucts, which mayo sort of is, with the eggs in all, should be refrigerated for sure. Would you drink milk if that was left out?? Good to ask though, aint worth the illness.

Salmonella!
Just say no!
Bad mayo is probably the worst bad food you could ever eat, and I guarantee that your jar is bad!
Toss it!
